Today was a great day of learning, collaboration, and planning as our teachers worked together across the district to strengthen instruction through high-quality instructional resources and curriculum planning. Their dedication to continuous improvement and commitment to student success is what helps our district move forward. Thank you to our Teaching and Learning team and our outstanding educators for the hard work, thoughtful conversations, and focus on ensuring every student has access to engaging, high-quality learning experiences.

Today, I had the opportunity to visit iLEAD Academy and watch our students shine during the Showcase and Senior Capstone presentations!

I continue to be amazed by their confidence, growth, and passion our students display when given opportunities to share their learning and future goals. Seeing our seniors present their capstone projects and hearing them speak so proudly about their work made my heart happy!

Today, I had the opportunity to watch our fourth graders at Owen County Elementary present their Passion Projects, and I walked away incredibly proud of our students and staff!

Our students showcased so much more than presentations. They demonstrated confidence, creativity, communication, critical thinking, and passion for learning. It was amazing to see them sharing topics they truly care about while taking another important step toward our Portrait of a Learner in Owen County Schools.

The future is bright for our young Rebels, and today was a powerful reminder of what happens when students are given opportunities to lead, create, and shine. Thank you to our teachers and families for supporting these meaningful learning experiences!

I love our teachers and the incredible opportunities they provide for our students each and every day. I am always proud of them! Seeing all of those hands raised, students engaged, and learning taking place is what it’s all about. This time of year is always incredibly busy, but moments like these are a great reminder of why we do what we do. Just a small glimpse from some of my classroom visits last week across our schools.

Today was a special day for our teams as they got to practice on the new fields for the very first time. It’s been a long time coming and took a lot of hard work to make it happen. There’s still work to be done, but it’s coming along and those smiles made it all worth it!

There are moments in a school district that remind you just how special our students truly are and yesterday was one of those times!

I want to take a minute to share how incredibly proud I am of our Student Technology Leadership Program. These students are not only learning valuable skills for their future, but they are actively serving others and making a real difference in our classrooms each and every day.

I was dealing with some unexpected tech issues yesterday afternoon, and Mr. Jesse Cook stepped in without hesitation. He handled it quickly, professionally, and with a level of confidence and expertise that you’d expect from a seasoned IT professional.

That’s what makes this program so powerful. It’s not just about technology. It’s about leadership, service, problem-solving, and pride in your work.

Thank you to our student tech leaders for what you do behind the scenes to keep our schools running smoothly. You represent the very best of Owen County, and we are better because of you! Way to show your and what it means to be a Rebel in the classroom and as student tech leaders!

I LOVED watching our students get so excited as they studied plant and animal cells in Mrs. Dempsey’s and Mrs. Hathaway’s co-teaching classroom this week. Our students were so engaged with this vibrant learning experience.
