Last day to register for out DC ‘73 day at Keeneland. All information about this event can be found on this page in an earlier post the first week of July. All you have to do is text me 270-929-3034 and let me know if you want to come I will put your name on the list. If you want valet parking, which is highly recommended, you will need to pay me $15 to have your name on that list. Registration closes at midnight tonight.

Classmates, I’ve had several say they want to come, but maybe I wasn’t clear. If I don’t have your name on the list, to turn in, you will not be able to get in the day of the event. You have to pre-register, I have to have your name. I will call the names in Tuesday morning and after that there will not be any openings.

Drug mix-up leads to "event" during joint replacement surgeries at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, leaving at least one patient permanently paralyzed

Classmates, please keep our classmate Jeff Coke in your prayers. He had knee surgery in Nashville I believe a couple of weeks ago, I have not gotten a recent update, and had complications which left him partially paralyzed. From the information that I have received he might be moving to a Chicago hospital, but that’s all I know. If anyone has any additional or updated information, please feel free to post it. All prayers appreciated.

One of our classmates, Lisa C***s, has worked at Keeneland during both the Spring and Fall Meets for the past 8 years. Through her connections, she has arranged a very special opportunity for our class to attend the races during the first week of the Fall Meet—and to experience the prestigious Keeneland Clubhouse. The Clubhouse has traditionally been reserved for horse owners, invited guests, and members of the Keeneland Club. Membership itself is by invitation only and has long reflected Keeneland’s rich tradition, dating back to its founding in 1936 by a group of prominent Thoroughbred horsemen and horsewomen. For most of us, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity from a perspective that very few visitors ever have.

*Dress code is dresses or nice slacks for ladies, and slacks and a jacket & tie, (no tennis shoes or jeans) for men. Clubhouse access will be denied without the above dress code requirements. Programs, all food and drinks and of course, betting will be your responsibility.

*The ticket cost is $30 per person and can be paid for & picked up at the “will call” window at the Clubhouse when you arrive, if your name is on my list. Credit cards only.

* Lisa highly recommends Valet parking, as you may have to park in the field, walk a great distance, or walk in the rain, without it. Valet parking is only for members, but Lisa's supervisor has generously extended the privilege to her classmates and their significant other or guest.

*Valet parking has to be reserved in advance. You will need to let me know that you want it and Venmo me or write me a check for $15. I will keep this opportunity open till August 31st. At that time, I will order valet parking tickets for those who have ordered, Keenland will send them to me and I will get them to you. ( A hassle, but well worth it to avoid the above scenarios.)
