The HCS Family is mourning the loss of Caleb J. Milem. As teachers have reflected on the many years Caleb spent within our classrooms, no one will be surprised that the word "energetic" was mentioned numerous times. He was a ball of energy who wore an adorably mischievous smile and kept everyone on their toes. He was curious and clever. He loved discovery and exploration, so it stands to reason that science would be his favorite subject. He loved people, and people loved him.
Mrs. Rhoads, Caleb's 2nd grade teacher recalls, "Caleb was so loved by his classmates. He was so funny and a trickster. He was so immersed in whatever had his attention. Caleb was always smiling and enthusiastic about whatever we were doing in class. Definitely one of my favorite boys that year."
Caleb stopped by last August to visit HCS, see which teachers were still around, and tell me (Mrs. Ladd) what future plans he had in mind. I absolutely loved that visit! Heritage Christian School held good memories for him, and he left me with several hugs and this picture of the two of us that I treasure.
We cherish the time the Milem Family had at Heritage Christian School and are so grateful for the ways God used us to impact one another.
Dr. Charles, Dawn, Charlie, Catherine, Christian, and Corrie--we extend to you our deep love and prayers for comfort.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

Dear HCS Family,
Because of God’s faithful ways of caring for HCS, the 2025-2026 school year was full of GOOD: good friendships, good food, good ole fun, & good times.
Happy moments came in the way of...
-eating ice cream after the cow-milking demo
-wearing PJ's or costumes on special days
-choosing rewards for good elementary manners
-creating survival huts in the woods
-growing plants and cooking steaks
-slurping snowcones & popsicles during Field Day
-rooting for HCS Jags in volleyball & basketball games and XC races
-singing our National Anthem, chapel songs, and "Finding Nemo" Musical numbers
-dancing with family and friends at the Jaguar Jamboree
-going on trips off-campus to attend performances at the Riverpark Center, jump at Elite Air, play at parks, and catch fish
-learning how to keep our brains healthy through ScreenStrong
-celebrating Kindergarten and 8th Grade graduations
-and daily contemplating deep things of God so this world (and our part in it) makes sense
For all of this good, we proclaim, “Great is His faithfulness!” Lamentations 3:23
Thank you HCS Teachers & Staff, Parents, Volunteers, Coaches, and especially Students for all the happy moments! Enjoy your summer, and I'll be ready to greet you in August!
Love,
Mrs. Tracy Ladd
