We had a great time this weekend at Meadowgreen Appalachian Music in Clay City, KY, for Crowefest!
We were proud to represent OCTC and our music program at this historic bluegrass music park. It was a wonderful weekend celebrating bluegrass, traditional music, and the students who are carrying these traditions forward.
A special congratulations to our student Levi Sullivan, recipient of this year’s J.D. Crowe Scholarship Award! Last year, our student Wade Papineau was honored with the award.
Each year, the festival presents a personal scholarship check to a college student studying bluegrass and traditional music. We are proud to see our students recognized for their dedication to this important musical tradition.

Two exciting shows are coming up for the OCTC Capital Bluegrass & Tradional Music

First up is CroweFest Bluegrass Festival in Clay City, KY’s Meadowgreen Appalachian Music where one of our students will receive a scholarship! Then at OCTC where we’ll perform for the 40th Anniversary Boots & BBQ Free Concert Celebration !

We’re proud of the band we have in place for the fall semester and are looking forward to another great season of music, performances, and opportunities for our students!

The OCTC Capital Bluegrass & Traditional Music Program was honored to host more than 40 Pulaski County students and staff from the HealthForce Kentucky Upward Bound program.

Program Coordinator Scott Napier presented an introduction to Kentucky’s rich bluegrass and traditional music heritage while highlighting the opportunities available through the Capital Bluegrass Program.

The students were highly engaged throughout the presentation, and several musicians in the group even joined Napier and Capital Bluegrass students for an impromptu jam session to close out the evening.

We look forward to welcoming HealthForce Kentucky back for a second visit in July!
