We are mourning the loss of Rita Sanford, a beloved member of the Owensboro music community. Rita was the mother of Capital Bluegrass banjo player Sam Sanford and the daughter of Sam Mineer, who was also a proficient bluegrass banjo player.
Rita served on the Capital Bluegrass Advisory Committee since its inception and was a steadfast supporter of our efforts and of the Owensboro music community. Her dedication, kindness, outgoing personality and love for bluegrass music will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with the service at 2:00 p.m., at:
