Did you know? 🍕

At all of our secondary sites across the district, our teams make handcrafted pizzas daily for students to enjoy.

These photos are from our Sixth Grade Center, where Angie and her team are hard at work preparing fresh, student-favorite pizza right in the kitchen.

Thank you to our cafeteria teams for serving up delicious options every day!

10:28 a.m. — The North Tower Falls

At 10:28 a.m., the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed.

It had burned for 102 minutes after being struck by Flight 11.

The skyline of New York City had changed.

Thousands were lost.

Thousands more were injured.

And beneath an unimaginable mountain of steel, concrete and debris, the largest rescue and recovery operation in American history was beginning.

By the end of September 11, 2,977 innocent people had been killed:

2,753 in New York.
184 at the Pentagon.
40 aboard Flight 93.

They came from 90 nations.

September 11 was over.

Its consequences were not.

We remember.

10:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 93

At 10:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

But Flight 93 was different.

The passengers and crew had learned what had happened in New York and Washington. They understood what their aircraft had become.

And they fought back.

We will never know with certainty where the hijackers intended to strike. What we do know is that the passengers and crew made sure Flight 93 never reached its intended target.

Their final act was an act of courage.

We remember.

9:59 a.m. — The South Tower Falls

At 9:59 a.m., after burning for less than an hour, the South Tower collapsed.

From the moment Flight 175 struck the tower until its collapse, only 56 minutes had passed.

Inside and around the World Trade Center were civilians trying to escape and firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other responders moving in the opposite direction.

They were climbing toward people they had never met.

Many would never come back down.

Ultimately, 343 FDNY firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers were among those lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center.

They ran toward what everyone else was running from.

We remember them.

9:37 a.m. — The Pentagon

At 9:37 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.

The attack brought the violence of September 11 to the headquarters of the United States military.

New York was burning.
Washington had been attacked.

And another hijacked aircraft was still in the air.

We remember.

9:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 175

Seventeen minutes later, there was no longer any question.

At 9:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center between floors 77 and 85.

Millions of Americans watched the second aircraft strike live on television.

In 17 minutes, America had gone from witnessing what many believed was a terrible accident to understanding that the nation was under attack.

We remember.

8:46 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 11

Twenty-five years ago, at this exact moment, the world changed.

At 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center between floors 93 and 99.

For those watching from the ground and on television, there was still confusion. An accident was still imaginable.

Within 17 minutes, that illusion would disappear.

We remember.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum identifies 8:46 a.m. as the first official moment of remembrance.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation witnessed unimaginable evil.

But in the hours that followed, we also witnessed extraordinary courage.

Firefighters climbed stairwells while others were coming down. Police officers ran toward scenes others were desperately trying to escape. Paramedics, dispatchers, military personnel, healthcare workers, and ordinary citizens answered the call without knowing what the next moment would bring.

Some gave their lives that day. Others spent months at Ground Zero searching, recovering, and serving. Many carried the physical and emotional consequences of that service for the rest of their lives.

September 11 reminds us that behind every badge, uniform, fire engine, ambulance, and patrol car is a person who has made a choice to serve others.

Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives taken.

We honor the heroes who ran toward danger.

We remember those whose service ultimately cost them their lives.

And we remain grateful for the men and women across this nation who still answer that call every single day.

Honor the fallen.
Remember the sacrifice.
Support those who serve.
Never forget.

Our High School team has been busy serving up something new!**

Over the past few weeks, students have had the chance to sample a variety of new menu items, including new drink options, fresh bakery items, fresh salads, fruit smoothies in the vending machine, and updated hot entrée choices.

These tastings, led by our Kitchen Manager Janice and Executive Chef Doug, help us gather student feedback as we continue to update and improve our menu with items students are excited about.

Thank you to our students for sharing their thoughts and helping shape what’s next in the cafeteria!
