🕵️ Today’s mystery… was hiding in a fingerprint.

Most people see a fingerprint.

Our students see evidence.

Today we used magnifying glasses to explore the tiny loops, whorls, ridges, and arches that make every fingerprint unique. We looked for clues, compared patterns, and discovered that every print tells a story.

Then the real detective work began.

Students read, observed, compared details, asked questions, and recorded evidence—just like real investigators.

Because at Art & Academics, reading isn’t just about sounding out words.

It’s about learning to notice.

To think.

To ask, “What do I see? What does it mean? What clue did I almost miss?”

Learning becomes an adventure when curiosity leads the way.

📖 Every story holds clues.

And that’s exactly how we like it.

At this time of year, my social media is filled with posts from parents.

“I think my child is falling behind.”

“They’re struggling to read.”

“They’ve lost confidence.”

“I don’t know where to turn.”

Then come the advertisements.

“We can fix it.”

“Enroll now!”

“Our program works!”

There are wonderful schools, homeschool programs, co-ops, microschools, and tutoring organizations doing important work. Every child deserves people who care.

But Art & Academics was never created to become the biggest.

It was created to become deeply personal.

We intentionally keep the number of students we accept very small because we don’t just teach lessons—we make a commitment to each child.

Before we decide how to teach, we watch.

We listen.

We notice.

We discover what makes that student curious.

We learn what brings them joy.

We pay attention to what frustrates them.

We listen carefully to parents because no one knows a child better.

When appropriate, we listen to teachers, specialists, and doctors because every piece of the puzzle matters.

Then we build a plan around that child.

Not around a program.

Not around a script.

Not around a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

Every child deserves to be seen before they are taught.

That’s why our students become more than appointments on a calendar.

They become part of our Art & Academics family.

Because of that commitment, we accept only a very limited number of students.

At this time, we have two openings for personalized, one-on-one Reading Intervention/Homeschool Academic Coaching.

If your child needs someone who will slow down, truly listen, and teach with patience, encouragement, and purpose, we’d love to visit with you.

Sometimes a child doesn’t need more pressure.

Sometimes they simply need someone who believes in them enough to teach them the way they learn.

Can I be honest with you for a second?

Leo and I started Art & Academics because we kept seeing the same thing — kids sitting in front of computers, expected to teach themselves. In micro schools. In homeschool. In public school. It got worse after COVID and honestly, it hasn't gotten better.

These aren't lazy kids. They're not lost causes. They're kids who needed someone to actually show up for them — and no one did.

We're not a tutoring center that runs kids through a program and hands them a report card. We're two teachers who believe this is a calling. We meet students exactly where they are — no judgment, no preconceived ideas, no labels. Just someone in your corner who genuinely believes in your child.

When a parent calls me, the first thing I say is: tell me about your student. Because you know your child better than any teacher, any specialist, any doctor. And the second thing I say is: you are not alone. We can work this out together.

If your child is struggling with reading, falling behind in school, or just needs someone who actually sees them — that's exactly who we're here for.

We serve students in grades 3–12 in Owasso and the surrounding area.

We need to say this clearly—

We are not a tutoring service.

We are certified Oklahoma teachers who provide professional reading intervention for students who are struggling and not making the progress they should be.

If your child has been “getting help” but nothing is really changing…
there’s usually a reason.

Reading struggles don’t fix themselves.
And they’re not caused by laziness.

They come from gaps in foundational skills that were never fully developed.

That’s what we identify.
That’s what we fix.

We work with students in grades 2–12 using structured, research-based methods—not guesswork.

And yes, we also bring in art on Saturdays—because confidence, creativity, and engagement matter too.

But make no mistake—
our primary focus is helping students become strong, capable readers.

If your child is struggling, you are not alone.
And there is a way forward.
