Start a personalized weight management & Lifestyle program in the New Year.
The dietary guidelines for Americans recommends a serving of two fruit and three vegetables daily. Great choices of low glycemic index fruit are berries, apples and melons. Vegetables should be consumed in the colors of the rainbow with a mixture of greens, reds, yellows and purples. Good choices are broccoli, red and yellow peppers, eggplant and sweet potatoes.
Avocados are a healthy source of unsaturated fats and are delicious on toast salads or as a thickener in recipes. Other healthy sources of unsaturated fats are walnuts, almonds, almond butter and olive oil. Saturated fats should be consumed at a minimum, 20 g daily or less. Sources of saturated fats are animal products such as red meat and full fat dairy. Saturated fats influence our levels of cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides.

CDC: Obesity may increase risk of severe COVID-19 The CDC issued a warning last week that people with excess weight or with obesity could face a more severe case of COVID-19 if infected. The warning was based on studies of COVID-19 patients that found a link between obesity and excess weight and higher risks of hospitalization as well as mortality.
