Because of Christ’s finished work, we can draw near to God with confidence rather than fear. Those who are in Christ have received the Spirit of adoption and may call upon God as Father, resting in the assurance that they are fully forgiven and welcomed as his children.

The Christian life is shaped by the grace of God that has appeared in Jesus Christ. As those who have received salvation through him, we are called to turn away from worldly passions and live with self-control, righteousness, and devotion as we wait with hope for Christ’s return.

God’s grace not only rescues us but also transforms us, teaching us to reflect his holiness in our lives as we look forward to the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Alumni Highlight: Josh Golackson (MDiv ’14)

Josh believes in the power of multiplication. In addition to being the father of eight children and serving as Senior Pastor of Living Stone Church (Oshkosh, WI), he leads the NXTGEN Cohort, part of the On Wisconsin Church Planting Network—a effort among PCA churches across Wisconsin to plant healthy, gospel-preaching churches throughout the state.

NXTGEN Cohort seeks to nurture future pastors by providing young men with a call to ministry with training, mentoring, and community as they prepare for the pastorate. It began nine years ago when Wisconsin church leaders recognized the need to raise up pastors and church leaders from within their own communities.

Josh knows firsthand the challenge of pursuing seminary training while remaining rooted in local ministry. He describes his seminary journey as somewhat “haphazard,” having completed his training while serving as a Cru missionary in East Asia. He would later become an important conversation partner for RTS as the seminary considered the value and need for a Hybrid MDiv model—a flexible and organized approach to in-person seminary education that allows students to remain in their local communities while receiving rigorous theological training.

On Wisconsin’s partnership with RTS grew out of a simple question: “How do we get guys to stay in Wisconsin?” The answer is already bearing fruit. Nine men have completed their MDiv degrees, 24 are currently in the program—including 12 RTS Hybrid MDiv students—and Josh has seen a fourth generation church plant emerge from the network.

When asked how the Hybrid MDiv has become an essential part of training the network’s church planters, Josh says, “The Lord is doing a great work…it’s a great time to tap into this with a generation that’s more mobile.”

Scholarship support has been an essential part of making this possible. Through the Next Gen Fund, established and supported by RTS and its donors, cohort members from the On Wisconsin Church Planting Network receive a 50% scholarship toward their tuition. Combined with support from their presbytery and local churches, this significantly reduces the financial burden of seminary education, making it possible for more men to receive theological training while preparing to serve the church.

Through this partnership, RTS donors are helping to equip pastors who will plant churches, disciple believers, and raise up the next generation of ministry leaders.

Alumni Highlight: Dan Trepod (MDiv, '23)

Dan and his wife, Krista, live in Royal Oak, Michigan, where Dan serves as the Detroit Metro Area Director for Cru, overseeing campus ministry at eight area colleges.

Dan joined Cru immediately after completing his undergraduate degree. As the years passed, however, he recognized an increasing need for theological training as he encountered a new generation of college students engaging with theology and philosophy through powerful platforms like TikTok and other social media.

Thanks to scholarship and local church support, Dan was able to pursue his Hybrid MDiv while continuing to lead ministry efforts throughout the Detroit area. While he expected courses in theology and preaching to strengthen his ministry, he was surprised by how valuable courses in Church History and ancient languages would become. That training has equipped him to engage college students more thoughtfully as they wrestle with claims against Christianity and questions about the authority of Scripture that they encounter in popular media.

The impact of Dan’s RTS education is already multiplying. Since graduating, he has recruited several others for the Hybrid MDiv program, equipping them to similarly serve as laborers in the harvest.

Reflecting on the current ministry environment, Dan smiles and says, “Ministry is fruitful right now,” pointing to the growing spiritual interest among young men on college campuses throughout the United States.

For Dan, theological education has not taken him away from ministry—it has prepared him to serve more effectively in a rapidly changing cultural landscape and to equip others to do the same.
