From Coach Waters:
“Many are aware that I’ve made the hard choice not to return next season as Oviedo high schools head wrestling coach. There has been a lot of thought, and emotion that went into this decision, but at the end of the day the scale finally tipped in favor of reasons not to be able to continue to coach.
Thank you to my wife and kids who were always the ones I missed time with to get to work such a great job. My wife covered a lot so I could be with other peoples kids for many years. And of course thank you to the athletes that made it worth the sacrifice to be away from my family.
I’ll miss watching the physical, and mental development of these wrestlers. Even more so, I’ll miss seeing kids turn into young men and women before my eyes. Watching them develop was always the best part of being a coach. I’ll miss my peers too- The comradery that comes from being a coach has made for a lot of laughs and friendships.
Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the real ones that showed up and wanted to be there, to get better, and justified the amount of sacrifice it takes to be a wrestling coach. You will be missed the most.
To the kids I’m having to walk away from, remember: try your hardest and don’t do anything dumb. You all will be ok if you do those two things in your future seasons and the rest of your life.
Lastly, we will still be updating the boards from our girls season success, placer, and having a banquet. Further information to follow on that.”
