"What is a naturalist? ... A naturalist is not someone who knows everything about nature, because there is ALWAYS more to learn. A naturalist is someone who is curious about nature and takes the time to slow down, wonder, and learn through exploring. Who here is a naturalist?"
By the end of our camp, every camper was in fact, a certified naturalist 🌱🦋🔍

This is a clip from one of the young naturalists biodiversity expeditions. They were given little flashlights to add to their naturalist satchels. This mission told them to search beneath logs to see who might call these spots home.

What do you hear?

I hear a boy gathering friends to see.

I hear a very curious child noticing that something is happening before his eyes.
(I wait to respond to allow them to process. Then we converse with their ideas and I share some of the knowledge I have. It was likely attracting a mate or drying itself.)

I hear a child quietly exclaim the beauty before her.
