ervice. Our school provides for our students academically and socially, following the standards required by the state of Kansas. More importantly, we address students’ spiritual needs through instruction in God’s Word. We teach students that all people are sinful, but God in His grace grants forgiveness and salvation through faith in the death and resurrection of His only Son, Jesus Christ.

Yesterday was Grandparent's Day! So many grandparents came to visit! We had a great time showing them around our school. We started the day with chapel, then played musical instruments with Mrs. Berg in the narthex, had snacks with Mrs. Henning in the lunchroom, learned dances with Mrs. Proctor in the K-2 room, and painted records with Mrs. Petersen in the preschool room. We finished in the lunch room with a game of generational music Kahoot. We needed help from everybody to answer the music questions. Some of our grandparents stayed and ate lunch with us. It was a busy and exciting morning!

Today in science, Grades 5 and 6 went cookie mining. The students could only use a paperclip and toothpick to get the chocolate chips out of the cookie. What a fun and tasty experience!🍪⛏️

🎶We are on a roll in music class! 🎶
🥁Kindergarten, first, and second graders are exploring body percussion to create a steady beat, glockenspiels to create harmony, and their voices to create melody—all at the same time!
🎼Third, fourth, and fifth graders are learning ensemble skills! They are working in small groups to rehearse and play a song with steady beat, proper note values, and good musicianship. Each group will perform for their classmates soon!
🎻 Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders have worked hard to learn the parts of their instrument and how to unpack and handle it safely. Now they are cruising along learning to recognize their open strings on the music staff and play correct note values as a class.

📚❤️ From learning the sounds to loving the stories!
One of our favorite things about being part of the Mt. Olive family is watching our students grow as readers.
Our younger students are building strong foundations through Science of Reading instruction and multisensory activities—seeing, hearing, saying, touching, and practicing as they learn.
And then we get to see the payoff: our older students confidently reading independently and discovering the joy of a good book. 📖
From “What sound is that?” to “I found a great book!”—we love watching our readers grow! ❤️

Our annual Silent Auction is approaching and we are looking for donations! The auction will run from Oct. 9th-18th. All proceeds will go toward benefiting our comprehensive education fund, to help purchase new cheerleading uniforms, supplies for our community garden, supplies to support our Fine Arts Program, and to continue to give our kids opportunities to learn and grow in Christ.

Donations are needed by September 27th.

🎉 What a wonderful first week back at Mt. Olive Lutheran School! 🎉
We are so thankful to be back together and to begin a new year of learning, growing, and sharing God’s love! ❤️✝️ We enjoyed chapel, where we heard God’s Word and learned more about our Savior, Jesus, and we celebrated our August birthdays with singing and smiles! 🎂
Our week was filled with fun and learning as students played instruments in music, learned new PE games, made kites, read wonderful stories, and enjoyed reading and math games. 📚🎶🪁
Most of all, we are thankful that we can worship, learn, and grow together in Christ. We are so excited to be back at school and look forward to all the blessings God has in store for this year! 💙💛

Today Grades 5-8 began a milk experiment in in science. The students are tracking the growth of bacteria in 2% pasteurized milk and UHT milk in three locations: room temperature, refrigerator and freezer. What do you think their results will be?
