✨☕ CAPS Future of Food students visited the Paris Group Coffee roasting facility yesterday afternoon, where they explored the fascinating journey of coffee from bean to cup. Students gained valuable insights into global sourcing, roasting operations, quality control, marketing, packaging, private labeling, & the many business decisions that shape the coffee industry. ☕️
A huge thank you to Joe Paris (President), Kaila Schmidt (Marketing Manager), & Robin Seitz (VP of Coffee Supply Chain & Partnerships) of Paris Group for welcoming our students and sharing their expertise and industry knowledge. The experience offered a firsthand look at the teamwork, innovation, & strategy behind a successful business. 💯🔥 Beyond learning about coffee production, students discovered how relationships, trust, & global connections play a critical role in building a strong brand & business. ⚙️🔧 CAPS Engineering students welcomed Grant Campbell from Honeywell Aerospace to CAPS yesterday for an engaging presentation and hands-on workshop focused on professional resumes in the engineering industry. ✍🏼
Grant shared valuable insights into what engineering employers are looking for in today's workforce, highlighting the skills, experiences, & qualities that help candidates stand out. Students gained practical advice on strengthening their resumes while learning more about career opportunities within the engineering field.

🌟CAPS Innovation & Entrepreneurship students took learning beyond the classroom yesterday with a visit to Spark KC! and Tech Central, two thriving hubs that support Kansas City's entrepreneurial community. 🔥💯
A huge thank you to Austin Barnes and the teams at Spark Coworking - Kansas City and Startland NewsdNews for hosting our students and creating an unforgettable experience. Students had the opportunity to hear from entrepreneurs Meg Dieter of WhimsiBeans and Usman Wajid of Block & Mortar (https://blockandmortar.ai/) who shared the stories behind their startups, the challenges they've overcome, & the passion that drives their work. 💗 The learning continued at Tech Central, where Kari Keefe of KC Digital Drive & Nicholas McMillan of Hive Coworking KC gave students an inside look at Kansas City's growing tech & startup ecosystem, answering questions & sharing insights about innovation, collaboration, & building new ventures. 🛜

📸🐷 This past Tuesday, CAPS Digital Design & Photography students headed to Kansas City Hope Garden for a hands-on photography experience with a purpose. A big thank you to Emma Entwistle, who helped coordinate the animals and create opportunities for students to capture engaging images for the garden's social media and promotional storytelling.
Students put their photography skills to work, creating visual stories that highlight the important work happening at the farm while gaining valuable experience in content creation and storytelling through imagery. As an added bonus, they even got to meet and photograph some adorable baby piglets! 🐷📷

🔨🚧 Today, CAPS Engineering students got an up-close look at the construction industry during a site tour of The Brooksider restaurant renovation at Town Center Plaza in Leawood, KS, hosted by ARC General Contracting. 🏗️✨
Students explored an active construction site & learned how existing spaces are transformed through renovation, restoration, & material reuse. A huge thank you to Taylor Bauer & the ARC General Contracting team for sharing their expertise and providing valuable insight into the many professionals who collaborate to bring projects to life, including architects, engineers, subcontractors, city inspectors, contractors, & owners.
Experiences like these help students connect classroom learning to the exciting opportunities within the construction & engineering industries while seeing firsthand how teamwork turns ideas into reality. 🚧 📐

❤️🐾 CAPS Veterinary Medicine students welcomed Robyn Keiter, RVT, from Dechra last Wednesday for an engaging look at animal health and care. Students learned how to take pet vitals (TPR), identify what's normal in an animal so they can recognize signs of concern, and explore how gum color can provide important clues about a pet's health. 🐈‍⬛
Robyn also shared her experiences volunteering with the Kansas State Animal Response Team (KSART), giving students insight into veterinary care during emergency situations. 🐕️ https://ksart.org/
The highlight of the day? Practicing safe animal restraint techniques with two very handsome canine and feline helpers, Oliver & Elvis, courtesy of student Mina! 🐶🐱

🎓✨️ Last Friday, CAPS Innovation & Entrepreneurship students visited Johnson County Community College to learn more about the pathways & opportunities available through the College Now partnership with CAPS. 🌟 Students toured the campus, explored the many resources available to College Now/JCCC students, and learned about the entrepreneurship classes offered through JCCC programs, gaining insight into how innovation, business development, & entrepreneurial thinking can support their future goals. 📚️ The visit provided valuable perspective on college experiences, academic support services, & the many opportunities available to students as they prepare for life after high school. 🎓💡A huge thank you to for showcasing the exciting possibilities available through the College Now program!

🏡🌟 CAPS CNA students spent their first Friday of the semester at Prairie Elder Care, beginning a meaningful partnership that provides hands-on experience working with residents in a specialized residential memory care setting.
Throughout the semester, students will have the opportunity to support and learn from individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia while practicing patient-centered care in Prairie Elder Care’s unique environment of three homes and a beautiful farmstead. 💙
These experiences help students build valuable healthcare skills, deepen their understanding of compassionate caregiving, and learn the importance of creating meaningful connections with residents and their families. 💙🩺✨
A heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents at Prairie Elder Care for welcoming our students and providing such an incredible learning opportunity. We can't wait to see all the growth and learning that will take place throughout the semester! 💙✨
