Our Quetzalcoatlus is always ready to impress visitors in the Great Hall. This ancient flying reptile ruled the skies more than 66 million years ago!

Fun Fact: Quetzalcoatlus had a wingspan of up to 36 feet, about the width of a small airplane. 🛩️

Happy National Prairie Day from the Museum at Prairiefire! 🌾✨

Prairies are one of the most important ecosystems in Kansas, providing homes for wildlife, supporting pollinators, and helping protect our environment. Today we’re celebrating the beauty of the prairie all around us, from the native grasses swaying outside the museum to the natural history discoveries waiting inside the MAP.

🚂🍻 Science Happy Hour is back!

Join us on Wednesday, June 24, as Dr. Bruce Lieberman explores what steam trains can teach us about evolution, extinction, and competition. Using the rise and fall of steam locomotives as a fascinating real-world example, this engaging presentation connects technology, history, and science in a whole new way.

Soaring into National Dinosaur Day on June 1st! 🦖✨

Did you know our Great Hall is home to an incredible cast of a Pteranodon suspended high above the museum? With its enormous wingspan and prehistoric presence, it’s one of the first things guests see when they step inside the MAP.

Stop by and celebrate the amazing creatures that ruled the skies millions of years ago while exploring science, natural history, and discovery all around the museum!

What an incredible start at our Open House! ✨

We loved welcoming families into our one-of-a-kind early learning environment and sharing the magic of hands-on discovery, STEAM learning, creativity, and social-emotional growth. From exploring classrooms to meeting our amazing educators, it was wonderful to see so many curious young minds excited for their learning journey ahead.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and spent time discovering what makes our program so special. We can’t wait to learn, grow, and explore together! 💛

Meet the newest scaly friend in our Discovery Room… a Red Niger Uromastyx! 🦎✨

These desert-dwelling lizards are known for their spiky tails, bright orange spotting, and love of soaking up the heat. You can spot our new friend relaxing on the logs and rocks while exploring their new home at the museum!

Fun fact: Uromastyx are mostly herbivores and love munching on leafy greens, flowers, and seeds unlike many other lizards that eat insects! 🌿☀️
