Johnson County Adult Education - abe/ged/esl

Last semester, the JCCC Police Department visited our ELL classes to talk about what to expect during a routine traffic stop and other interactions with the police. Students got to role-play and learned useful phrases. Thank you, Chief Mullis and all of JCCC PD, for sharing what you do with our students, putting them at ease, and providing some fun demonstrations along the way!

Meet Julianna, one of our incredible ELL Instructors! We asked what one thing she wished everyone knew about our students, and she said, "I wish everyone knew how dedicated to learning and improving our students are. They are often working and caring for family members, dealing with all that life has, yet they still show up." Our students demonstrate incredible perseverance every day!

Meet Erin, one of our incredible GED instructors. We asked Erin what she wished everyone knew about her students. She said, "Getting your GED means teaching yourself what others had years of structure to learn, showing up day after day, and finding the strength to keep going when life doesn't slow down for you. It means balancing responsibilities, doubt, and exhaustion--and choosing not to quit. Earning a GED takes grit, discipline, and so much courage. This milestone proves just how hard you're willing to fight for your future! I'm so proud of our GED students. They have what it takes!"
