Now that our Scholastic Book Fair is over, we are diving head first into our fundraising efforts for St. Jude Children's Hospital! Don't want to make dinner?? Join us tomorrow-Wednesday, September 23rd from 4pm-8pm at Chipotle (8301 W 151st St) and show them this flyer or use our special code for online orders! 25% of our sales will go toward our fundraising efforts for St. Jude Children's Hospital! Invite your friends, family and neighbors...but don't forget to show the flyer!
Along with our Chipotle night, we are also collecting loose change for "Coins for Carson"! Carson was a young girl diagnosed with a rare aggressive bone cancer and began collecting coins to aid in the help for research and treatments of childhood cancer. We are continuing her legacy and collecting our "Coins for Carson" this year too! Each teacher was given a piggy bank to decorate, either with the help of their kiddos or on their own, and they all turned out AMAZING! We may be small, but we are wanting to leave a BIG impact by helping St. Jude in our fundraising efforts! You can also help us by going directly to our St. Jude Trike-A-Thon website to donate!

Our Kids Cafe group meets once weekly, serving up a menu full of fun and development! We focus on nurturing the whole child through active, hands-on experiences that work their physical development through fine and gross motor coordination movements, creative expression by building their emotional intelligence and confidence through their culinary work and art , and cognitive growth through critical thinking and early math and science concepts...PLUS, did we mention, it's all with supplies that are edible!!! We did a quick demo class today to showcase some of the skills we'll be working on with Fruit Kabobs!

All About Me and My Friends!

September is "All About Me" month and two of our classrooms are discussing "Myself" and "My Friends"! In our "Myself" topic, we discuss our likes and dislikes, favorite foods, colors and so much more! Our friends in Africa (2 1/2's) were asked to create a self-portrait using a mirror! No matter their renditions, we could certainly see the resemblance, and honestly, our friends had more fun with the mirrors than anything! Our friends in Tiny Toads (Toddlers) are discussing "My Friends" and through our Kind Child curriculum they are learning how best to interact with our friends by using soft touches and taking turns...for toddlers, we all know this can be a challenge, but our friends played great together and even made silly faces at other friends through the door!

For the month of September we are focusing on "All About Me!" Discussing topics like: Myself, My Family, My Friends, My School, The Weather and The Seasons. This week our friends in our North America room (4's) learned about chemical reactions and demonstrating the basic principles of solutions and mixtures and the reactions you get when combining them! Their own reactions were better than the actual chemical reactions! Our friends in South America (Pre-K) discussed their families and using various materials, and exercising their fine motor muscles, created beautiful renditions of their families to share with everyone! Their detail in their collages were spectacular!
