Very, very proud of these students and their coach!

Congratulations to Pleasant Ridge Middle School who earned a spot in the top 16 teams nationwide at the Official National Science Bowl ® in Washington, D.C.

Competing against the best young scientists in the country, this exceptional team brought home a $1,000 prize and demonstrated outstanding teamwork, preparation and poise. Even more impressive: three of the five team members are sixth-graders, showing tremendous promise for the years ahead.

We’re incredibly proud of their achievement and can’t wait to see them return even stronger for the 2027 competition. Congratulations to these remarkable students and their coaches!

Today we welcomed the graduating seniors from Blue Valley West High School as they walked through Pleasant Ridge Middle School, and it was such a special moment for our students and staff. The seniors did a beautiful job — this class brought incredible energy, passion, and school spirit through our halls. It was inspiring to see how far they have come and exciting for our younger students to cheer them on. We wish each and every senior all the luck in the world as they begin their next chapter!

Amazing catch a cop day!

Today we held our annual “Catch a Cop” event with our amazing 8th graders! This special tradition is a fun way to celebrate and thank the police officers who serve and support our schools each day. Students had the chance to say goodbye to the officers they’ve built relationships with over the years while also meeting their future School Resource Officer at Blue Valley West High School.

The students had a blast running the track and trying to “catch the cops!” It was a day full of laughter, connection, and community, and we are so thankful for the officers who help keep our schools safe and build positive relationships with our students every day. Thank you, Officer Zeller for being an amazing resource for the community and our students.

Tonight’s vocal music culminating concert was incredible! Every grade level did an amazing job, and the Pops Concert was such a fun and entertaining performance to watch. A huge thank you to Joel Steelman for his dedication, leadership, and the countless hours he pours into helping our students succeed. We are so proud of all of our talented performers and grateful for a wonderful evening of music and memories!

7th graders are learning how matter and energy move through ecosystems. Students collaborate to make food chains and food webs, then we looked at owl pellets. We can see that owl pellets tell us more about how healthy an ecosystem is based on what we observe in the pellet itself!

It’s Bus Driver Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible individuals who safely transport our students to and from school each day. Their commitment, care, and friendly smiles make a difference in the lives of our kids more than they may ever know.

We are so grateful for all of our bus drivers and the important role they play in our school community. One of our drivers shared, “I am retired and I drive a bus because I enjoy the kids and it’s the perfect job for me. I also really appreciate Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Martin for all their support!”

Thank you to all of our bus drivers for your dedication, kindness, and for keeping our students safe every single day!

We had a very special day at Pleasant Ridge as we welcomed three important visitors to see the incredible work happening in our building—Dr. Chapman, our superintendent; Clay Norkey, our board member; and Dr. Nugent, Deputy Commissioner for the state of Kansas. It was such a great opportunity to showcase the dedication of our staff and the amazing things our students are doing every day.

The highlight of the visit was our sixth grade classroom, where students performed their perspective song—and before we knew it, everyone in the room was joining in! It was one of those moments that truly captures the heart of what makes Pleasant Ridge so special. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it!
