Our Fall 26 Nail Tech students are now ready for clients! Beginning Sept. 30, students will be able to perform basic services at the JCCC Nail Salon- this includes regular manicures and pedicures, dips and gels. As our students learn, acrylic nail services will also become available, so stay tuned! ✨

Consider supporting our students this fall with a nail appointment. We provide a 20% discount for clients over 60, JCCC students, and JCCC employees!

Meet Doug Burris, our esteemed Workforce Readiness instructor! Specializing in professional development classes, he believes careers don't happen by accident—they're engineered.

Doug earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Kansas and has spent his career at the intersection of people, business, and opportunity. As the Founder and Principal of DBI2 Consulting, Doug has spent more than 25 years helping startups, growth-stage companies, and established organizations identify exceptional talent and build teams that scale. He has advised founders, executives, and hiring leaders across industries including technology, education, sports, manufacturing, construction, and professional services, giving him a front-row seat to how careers are launched, built, and accelerated.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into the workplace, it’s important that professionals learn to use these tools ethically. On Oct. 21, WDCE is hosting “Elevate Your Expertise: Responsible AI Use—From Principles to Practice”.

Applicable to a variety of fields, this one-day experience will teach you actionable strategies for navigating AI’s complex ethical landscape. You’ll learn to make responsible, informed decisions while achieving effective results- then put those strategies to the test in hands-on prompt labs!

Big news: We’ve added an exciting new course to our Motorcycle Training lineup! WDCE is now offering an Adventure Bike course for licensed riders who’d like to start their off-road journey. 🏍️🌄 Held on a dirt training range, this hands-on class will teach you the fundamentals of riding your Adventure Bike (ADV) or Dual-Purpose bike off-road!

Meet Chip Wagner, one of WDCE’s newest art instructors! Over 30 years ago, Chip received a full-tuition scholarship for visual arts. After working in the corporate world, leading global projects and traveling extensively, he’s returned to creative pursuits.

Developing his artistic skills privately over the last 30 years, Chip brings a multidisciplined approach, having studied a variety of styles and mediums. With insightful tips to help you achieve the next level in your artistic journey, he leads his classes with wit and humor.

If you’d like to get creative with mixed-media art this fall, look no further than “Making Artist Books” with instructor Juli Clarkson!

A practicing mixed-media artist based in Kansas City, her artwork blends collage, artist's books, and painting to explore ideas of connection, memory, and nature. She first encountered artist’s books during her studies at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she began expanding her creative process through the use of book forms as a medium of artistic expression. There, Clarkson also received her Bachelor of Arts and was awarded the Elizabeth Richardson Award in studio arts.

Notably, her recent artist’s books were published in a collaborative peer-reviewed article with Professor Sigma Colón in the Open Rivers Journal. She has spent multiple summers interning with Kansas City Young Audiences, assisting other teaching artists with summer youth courses. Recent teaching opportunities include a summer spent at the Peninsula School of Art, where she conducted over 20 summer art workshops for youth.
