Senior Spotlights!
As we begin second semester, every week we will spotlight one senior to learn a little bit more about before graduation! Our first senior to recognize is Gordon Holbert. This is Gordon’s first year at OCS. We have loved getting to know Gordon this year and we are going to miss him very much when he graduates!

Gordon’s favorite Bible verse is John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
His favorite class is art, and he enjoys playing basketball for the school and in his free time as well!
His favorite part about OCS has been getting to meet new the new people here.

We asked Gordon what wisdom he has to impart on the younger classes. He responded in, “Turn in your homework all the time, don’t get zeros.”
Gordon’s favorite quote is, “Never give up and push yourself always.”
We are so excited to see what Gordon grows to do. Even though he has only been here for one year now we will miss him very, very much!

Our last senior we are recognizing is Benicio Talbot. Benicio has attended OCS since, as he said, "forever." Benicio has served on Student Senate and has participated in Varsity Soccer since 6th grade as well! Benicio has made a lasting impact on OCS, and we are so excited to see how he grows!

Benicio's favorite verse is Ecclesiastes 1:2, '"Meaningless! Meaningless!" Says the teacher. "Utterly meaningless. Everything is meaningless."' Benicio's favorite class was the Sociology class he took his freshman year. In his free time, Benicio enjoys target shooting. Some of Benicio's favorite memories from OCS are from playing soccer his junior and senior year of high school.

Benicio's favorite quote was shared by Mr. Linick, "I'm gonna be on the news if someone pees on me."

We are so sad to know Benicio is leaving us in just a few days, but we are so proud of him and the accomplishments he has had at OCS. We can't wait to see how the Lord uses him in the world and are very excited for him in this next chapter!

Our second to last senior we are recognizing is Lydia Duckworth. Lydia first began attending OCS in preschool, returned in seventh grade and has been attending since. Lydia has participated in extracurriculars including Varsity Volleyball and Student Senate. We have enjoyed Lydia so much and her impact on the school. We can't wait to see her next steps.

Lydia's favorite verse is John 11:35, "Jesus wept." Lydia's favorite class at OCS was Algebra 1 her freshman year and her favorite memory here is cutting her teammates hair at our Joplin tournament. Lydia loves to spend her free time baking and crafting!

Some wisdom Lydia has for the younger classes is to, "Make money, hustle hard."

Lydia's impact on OCS will be greatly missed! We pray that the Lord will make his plan for her clear throughout her life!

Today's senior we are recognize in our Senior Spotlight Series is Carter Cunningham. Carter has attended OCS for all four years of high school. Congratulations Carter as you begin this next step!

Carter's favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Carter's favorite class is Bible 12 with Mr. Nelson, and his favorite memory at OCS is at the 2025 Lock In. In his free time, Carter enjoys video games.

Some wisdom Carter would like to leave for younger students is to put God first in every little thing you do.

His favorite quote is, "Without the word grey, you can't spell greatness."

Congratulations Carter! We are so happy for you and are praying that you would follow God's guidance throughout your future careers and endeavors!
