Haitai friends! 🌺

I've been a little quiet around here because I've been busy growing a bebé!! I can't believe our little guy is due this month!

Before I step into this next chapter, I have one more pottery drop for you...

Tomorrow at 5:00 PM Mountain Time, I'll be releasing a small collection of ichariba chōdē tumblers and mugs on my website.

Ichariba chōdē •いちゃりばちょーでー• is an Okinawan saying that means, "once we meet, we become family." It's a reminder of the kind of community I've been so lucky to find through pottery and of the connections you and I have created after you receive your handmade piece. I am eternally grateful for your support throughout these years!

After this collection, I'll be taking a little hiatus from making work to sell while I soak up newborn life.
If you've been eyeing a mug (or need the perfect gift for your bestie), this will be the last chance for a little while.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you • たんでぃがーたんでぃ• いっぺーにふぇーでーびる for supporting my tiny lil pottery business, celebrating my Okinawan heritage with me, and making this creative journey soo meaningful. Your kindness has meant more than you could ever know.

See you tomorrow at 5:00 PM MST!

Haitai! I am so grateful to have been able to attend the 7th Annual Okinawan Craft Fair with my mom and sister. I love them so much, I cherish the time we get to spend together! I am also so grateful to have seen and met so many Okinawan diaspora friends on Saturday, thank you so much for coming by our tent and for all your support!
たんでぃがたんでぃ to for hosting us and to seastar for helping us setup and traveling down to hang out with the fam!

🌺NINAZUMA POTTERY Shop Update: I have remaining mugs, cups, and my-sister-made Kijimuna felt charms I'll be posting on my website Monday at 6pm Mountain Time. You'll be able to preview what's available on Sunday!🌺

My mom, sister, these hajichi mugs, and I on our way to Gardena, CA today for the 7th Annual Okinawan Craft Fair this Saturday!

Hajichi was a rite of passage for Okinawan women, to garner protection and to mark key moments in time, with hand tattoos distinct to the islands. When colonial Japan took over Okinawa in 1879, the beginning of cultural erasure started taking place, including the banning and vilifying of hajichi. But a resurgence and revitalization effort of hajichi has taken place in recent times! Those of us with Okinawan heritage have a yearning to connect with each other, while honoring, protecting, & advocating for our culture and language to make sure it's remembered for generations to come.
