🔥⚡️💦Fire Ecology💦⚡️🔥

4th graders enjoyed a trip out to Pioneer Ridge yesterday to learn about Fire Ecology!

They spent their day learning about careers dealing with fire, how fire on our landscape is a GOOD thing, and how tasty fire can be! 🍫

Pioneer Ridge has a great partnership with Ottumwa Schools to provide students with these opportunities! The 4th graders had a great day!

🪗🦶🏼📻🥤📝Unit 1 Celebration📝🥤📻🦶🏼🪗

Fourth grade celebrated the end on their first unit in literacy by trying out some different activities they read about in their personal narrative Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio by Peg Kehert.

🦶🏼 All students got to experience one of the activities that Peg had to do during OT: moving marbles with their toes.

📻 They got to experience what it was like to listen to one of Peg and Tommy’s favorite radio programs: The Lone Ranger.

🥤They got to have a tasty chocolate milkshake because that was what finally brought down Peg’s fever.

📝 They got to share out their personal narratives with another student from the opposite class. They received feedback from the students on writing techniques they had worked on during class.

🪗 Finally, they got to experience the accordion and how heavy and awkward it truly was for Peg to play it! Thank you for David Eaton for your help with this!

❤️🐾🚮 Bulldog Pride Day🚮🐾❤️

Today, both 4th and 5th grade classes participated in Bulldog Pride Day!

All of the students walked to Bell Park and picked up trash to beautify the area.

5th grade went back to Eisenhower and cleaned up around the outdoor nature center and playground area.

Both classes were grateful for the opportunity to volunteer!

What a great way to show our Bulldog Pride in our community and schools! 🐾❤️
