We’re honored to highlight Jamey Robinson, an exceptional instructor whose passion, expertise, and leadership make a profound impact on every recruit he teaches at the IHCC Regional Law Enforcement Academy.

With 20+ years of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and 18 years in emergency management, Jamey has dedicated his career to preserving, protecting, and saving lives. His real-world emergency expertise strengthens the academy’s mission to prepare confident and capable law enforcement professionals.
Jamey instructs the Iowa Law Enforcement Emergency Care Provider course, along with several other specialized courses essential to officer readiness.

✨ Last year, the 33rd Graduating Class selected Jamey as their “Most Influential Instructor.”

This recognition speaks volumes about his impact, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to student success.

“I am honored to have recently been selected as the new Director of the IHCC Regional Law Enforcement Academy. After serving 25 years in law enforcement and as a military veteran, I am excited to continue supporting those who choose a career in public service.”

Director Powless brings extensive leadership and instructional experience, including service as:
• Field Training Officer (FTO)
• Narcotics Enforcement & Interdiction Officer
• Tactical Team Leader
• Supervisory Lieutenant
• Training Coordinator
• Acting Chief of Police within a federal law enforcement agency
After retiring from active service, Director Powless is returning to the field he is passionate about—and to Indian Hills Community College, where he proudly graduated from the Criminal Justice Program.

Under his leadership, the IHCC Regional Law Enforcement Academy will continue its mission of preparing high quality, ethical, and service driven law enforcement professionals for our communities.
