Our 1st-year Radiologic Technology students spent some time this week working in small groups discussing different patient care scenarios. 🩻
They talked through how communication may need to change based on a patient’s age, including what to say—and what NOT to say. They also discussed the nonverbal messages we send through facial expressions and body language, along with confidentiality and HIPAA.
Another topic was caring for patients with sensory loss and remembering that difficulty seeing or hearing does not indicate a lack of mental capacity.
Lots of good conversation, different perspectives, and real-world thinking getting ready for clinicals in just a few short weeks! These are the skills that help our students learn to care for the whole patient—not just take the x-ray. ❤️
