Reading Roadmap

Reading Roadmap The goal of the Reading Roadmap (RR) is to increase significantly the number of proficient readers by the end of their third grade year.

The Reading Roadmap is a 0-5th Grade after-school, summer, and family engagement program that provides individualized intervention to help meet children's needs in literacy, math, and enrichment. The RR is a comprehensive model providing high-dosage tutoring targeting children in grades K-3rd that partners with schools and communities to address the factors that implicate early literacy.

Taurean Morton and Andrew Hysell attended the Bentonville Nonprofit Jam on behalf of Reading Roadmap. The training was high-energy and packed with hands-on opportunities to practice how to use AI while in the presence of the same people who develop and modify the AI itself. We have new plans to incorporate these tools into our early literacy program operations.

We are grateful to have a research partner like CERE (Center for Education Research and Evalution) at Ole Miss!

CERE helps us with our 21st CCLC program research and evaluation. Going forward, we are looking to gauge the impact of different dosages of programming on reading achievement!

Literacy Night is an opportunity for parents, educational staff, and the community to come together as a village and work together to instill the love of reading.
Becky Nider, Director of Programs, was the guest speaker at the Onaga Elementary Literacy Night talking about the importance of reading to your kids at home. Take home Literacy kits were provided as door prizes providing the families in attendance with books and activities to do at home. Such a successful night sharing our love of reading with others πŸ“š

Phonological Awareness at George H. Oliver Elementary School in Clarksdale, MS has made big changes with the addition of the new Reading Crossroads PA Curriculum. Students, led by the fabulous Ms. Clark, are making huge strides by focusing on individual PA skills such as Phoneme Segmentation and Phoneme Isolation in short, intentional, research-based lessons that allow them to move step by step through the continnuum which follows the Science of Reading. This ensures progression leading to success! βοΈπŸ“šβοΈ
