McKinley Elementary School Providing information for our parents, students, and community members. There is also a parochial school in the city; Marquette academy.

Ottawa Elementary District 141 operates five schools approximately 2,100 students in grades PK-8. One PK-4 elementary school and two K-4 elementary schools with enrollments ranging from 320-500 are operated in various sections of the city. An intermediate and middle school on the south side serves all fifth through eighth grade students. A Comprehensive, standards based program is offered to students including special teachers in elementary art, music, physical education and technology. The parochial school and the public school has an excellent working relationship and services are shared whenever possible. Ottawa takes pride in its excellent schools, both public and parochial. Education is Ottawa's investment in the future and the school staff has worked hard to assure citizens that the investment has been a wise and profitable one.

McKinley Families,

We were just informed that beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, October 13) Erickson Street will be closed between First Avenue and State Street which will make Catherine Street inaccessible for our buses. This will be in effect at least through this week. Our buses will be positioned on State Street headed North. This will not affect our drop-off and pick-up procedures, however please be aware of students exiting and boarding buses on State Street.

Join us as we celebrate National School Lunch Week this week! We have themed the meals around things you might eat at a circus, with a tasty treat each day! All students who take a school lunch this week will have the chance to win a Cafeteria Circus goodie bag! Just check the bottom of your tray before throwing it away to see if you have a sticker. If you find one, simply turn it in to your lunch server to claim your prize!

As a reminder we will be having an Institute Day tomorrow (Friday, October 9) so students will not be in attendance. Also, there is no school on Monday, October 12 in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day. Have a great weekend!

McKinley Families,

OES will be participating in the Ottawa Fall Fest parade on Sunday, October 4 beginning at noon. We will line up on West Jackson Street close to the American Legion at 11:40 a.m. McKinley families are invited to join us in the parade, however all students must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the parade. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite school spirit gear or school colors!
