The range judging “merch” has arrived 🤓

Great event, great awards to remember that day back in October ‘25, and great kids who took a chance on loving native plants!

Thanks to Mary and Brian Etl for providing the funds for the black sweatshirts this year.

They were only partially joking about cleaning out Lone Star High School yesterday! We took 24 of our best leaders to compete in Creed, Prepared, Extemporaneous, and Parliamentary Procedure.

We are so proud of the composure, the preparation, and the professionalism from everyone, and thanks to all our judges that made FFA a priority today.

***Creed: Jack (bronze) and Rosie (silver)
***Extemporaneous: Hadley (silver)
***Prepared: Bryn and Tayah (silver)
***Lone Star Yellow JV team (silver): Katie, Tayah, Tysie, Jayden, Kaylee, and Tessa
***Lone Star Blue JV team (gold): Emmalee, Renzo, Veronica, Taylor, Ava, Ashlynn, Peytyn,
***Lone Star Varsity (gold): Mason, Brock, Paityn, Sicily, Audrey, Anderson, and Grace

Oh, and by the way, we’re “state bound” in parliamentary procedure…going to give it a run again with a returning team in 2026. See you in Pueblo 🤓

What an honor! Two ag kids doing “ag kid stuff!”

It's not every day that Lone Star kids are invited to speak on a national level, but that is exactly what's happening for both Kaylee Coin and Renzo Bustamante this winter! Kaylee and Renzo were both chosen to be the Colorado delegates for the Society of Range Management's High School Youth Forum. They will write and present a formal research paper centered around a current topic in rangeland management, and present their findings in February in Monterey, California.

With that said, we are looking for sponsors to help with travel expenses (flight, meals, and transportation to/from the airport). Our goal is to raise $1,000 by December 20th. Can you help? If so, we invite you to mail a check to the school or stop by the office during school hours with your credit card in hand.

As always, thanks for all the ways you support our kids!

Cheers to this fearless chick, she’s headed to the District 15 Extemporaneous Speaking Contest!
Hadley gave a great speech on mental health within agriculture this morning after randomly drawing a topic and preparing for 30 minutes.

Yesterday we were in the business of building grit!
It may not have been their favorite day of ag class 🤓, but these 7 sophomores (with one more speaking next week) followed through with the assignment and created a formal research paper, spoke in front of judges, and answered questions about their chosen topic to compete in Prepared Speaking. Cheers to doing hard things!

***Bryn: 1st place with her speech about biologics in farming
***Tayah: 2nd place with her speech about the high cost of showing livestock
***Trevor: 3rd place
***Ava: 4th place
***Aden, James, and Riley: bronze awards

“The story of America is written with the courage, honor, and dedicated service of our veterans. Through their sacrifice, the fires of freedom burn brightly, our Republic secured, and our way of life made possible.”

Thanks to everyone who attended our Veterans Day events on Tuesday and made it so special, from the third graders who added stars to our walls, to the FFA officers who taught the Missing Man Table with humility, to the vets who shared their time.

In case you need another reason to celebrate on a Friday afternoon, it’s these two ladies pictured below ⬇️!

Ana Lockard and Amanda Kubitz are seventh and sixth year FFA members who officially earned their American FFA Degree last week at National Convention.

Although they couldn’t attend in person, we congratulate them on their dedication to community service, FFA activities, leadership development, and all those dang hours they accumulated in their jobs to get to this point 🤓

We are all about good traditions at Lone Star, and one of the ones we don’t want to lose is the celebration of Veterans Day. You’ve heard it once before, but don’t forget to join us on Tuesday at 1 pm if you are looking for a community celebration in our neck of the woods!

We know that some of you look forward to fresh oranges, potatoes, pinto beans, or even pears, and it’s “that time of year!”

Fruit comes direct from Edward’s Market in Fort Morgan, the beans are “Yuma-County” fresh from Farmer Bean, and the potatoes come from Lenz Family Farms in Wray.

We would love to take your order and payment if you are interested…just contact one of our 43 FFA members, or send us a Facebook message. Public orders are due on Sunday, Novemberer 9th.

As always, thanks for all the ways you support us.
