Science + writing = messy fun! 🧪✍️

Ms. Strumski’s 2nd graders at Scootney Springs got hands-on yesterday making Oobleck as part of their combined science and writing unit! From mixing up this gooey, stretchy substance to describing how it feels and behaves, our students are learning in the most fun (and messy!) way possible.

Who knew learning could be this slimy and exciting?! 😄

Scootney Elementary had an amazing D.A.R.E. graduation celebration! 🎓👏

Over the past 10 weeks, Officer Vargas has been more than just an instructor—he’s been a mentor, role model, and trusted teacher for our students. Through every lesson, he helped guide them in making positive choices, building confidence, and learning how to navigate real life challenges.

We’re so proud of our students for the growth they’ve shown and the knowledge they’re taking with them beyond the classroom. And a big thank you to Officer Vargas for the time, care, and dedication he pours into our kids each day! 💜

🎩📚 We had a very special visitor this afternoon… The Cat in the Hat stopped by our school!

Students were excited to see the mischievous, book-loving character pop into classrooms and celebrate the joy of reading with us.

What an incredible day for Scootney Springs! 🎉

We are so proud to share that this year’s Top 3 Amazing Shake District finalists all come from Scootney Springs — an exciting accomplishment that speaks to the confidence, character, and leadership our students continue to demonstrate.

While only three students advance to the National Competition in Atlanta, we want to recognize that students from across our district represented their schools so well at Regionals. We are proud of every participant who stepped out of their comfort zone and gave it their all.

Today, our Scootney finalists were surprised with the big news alongside their families during a small celebration — a moment they’ll never forget!

Atlanta, here they come! ✈️🌟

Congratulations to our top 10 Amazing Shake competitors. These kids competed in Mattawa at Wahluke Jr. High today and did incredibly well. We are proud of the hard work and dedication they have put into preparing for the competition.

It was so fun to partner with OHS Leadership students during our Winter Assembly. Students participated in a whole-school sing-along, creating an atmosphere full of joy and school spirit. We were also proud to announce that Scootney staff and students collected over 7,000 cans of food for the Othello Food Drive.

To end the assembly, we all sang Here Comes Santa Claus and were absolutely delighted when Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a few elves joined us. Students were thrilled and the Team sent them off with high fives as they exited. It was a truly special moment for our school community.
