Five years, countless events, thousands of students, and approximately 14,000 questions about whether we take Apple Pay later...

The HSO fiscal year is coming to a close, and we're passing the baton to a new principal and a new board.

Our advice? Make it great. Keep it about the kids. Support the staff. Have fun. And remember that the memories you help create matter more than you'll ever know.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Shout out to the OG Board members Lovero, Woolever & Musallam. It's been quite a ride.

And finally, to the new board: cherish Ms. Engfer. Leaving her behind is the hardest part of this transition—and trust us, it wasn't by choice. She has been the heart, history, and steady voice of the HSO for longer than any of us. Learn from her, laugh with her, and appreciate her. She's one of the very best things about Thompson.

Hickman, Jarvis, and Lewis... out. ✌️

Dear Thompson Families,

As we head into the end of the school year, I am reaching out regarding the future of the Thompson Home & School Organization (HSO).

With Mr. Lewis’ retirement, and both Mr. Jarvis and myself moving on to OHS next year, there will be only one teacher remaining involved with the HSO. Unfortunately, it will not be possible for the HSO to continue operating without parent involvement at the Board level.

In order to move forward, at minimum, we must have parents step into the roles of President and Treasurer. Without these positions filled, the HSO will be paused until volunteers come forward or a new structure is determined by incoming principal. While I am working on contingency plans, I wanted to make one final request for parent support before that becomes necessary.

The HSO plays an important role in supporting our students and staff, and its success depends on community involvement. This includes funding programs, supporting school events, and helping build a strong connection between families and staff.

The reality is that, without volunteers, this is where we are headed for the 2026–2027 school year.

If you are willing to step into a leadership role or would like more information about what these positions entail, please reach out. Even expressing interest or asking questions is a great first step.

Thank you for your continued support of Thompson.

Sincerely,
Amy Hickman
