📣 Announcement part 2: we’re not done yet!

Also joining our teaching staff is Mr. Wesley Miller, 2026 Oswego High School graduate and future Music Education major at Belmont University in Nashville. Wesley is a PreCussion for Kids graduate with a long resume of music involvement in District 308 as well as ILMEA, local honor bands, and more. This past school year, Wesley served as the OHS Marching Band Drum Captain after several years performing on the snare line.

This summer, Wesley will teach alongside Ms. Christina in group classes, private classes, workshops, and special performance events. Based on the loud screams of excitement from our students who already know Mr. Wesley, the students of PreCussion for Kids are in for their best “drummer summer” yet! Welcome to the studio, Wesley! 🎉

📣 PreCussion for Kids is thrilled to announce the addition of two new staff members to our first-ever student teaching team. Today we’ll be introducing them as we gear up for an incredible summer session here at our studio.

First up: Mr. Connor Omar, 2026 graduate of Oswego High School and incoming freshman at the University of Illinois. Connor is a PreCussion for Kids graduate and is an exceedingly accomplished young percussionist, having participated in numerous music ensembles and musical groups both within District 308 and through extra-curricular opportunities. Connor is the recipient of several major awards, including the prestigious Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser Leadership Award and the John Philip Sousa National Band Award.

Connor will be studying Music Education at the University of Illinois this fall. This summer, Connor will begin his journey as an educator by teaching alongside Ms. Christina in class groups, private class sessions, special performance events, and more. Welcome (back!) to PreCussion, Connor! 🎉

Heads up! Major studio announcement coming tomorrow. Probably the most exciting announcement we’ve ever had. (The Thursday 7:00 class just found out. They’re sworn to secrecy.)

Wise words from our friend and neighbor. Our hearts hurt for those experiencing loss after yesterday’s event near our studio.

Tragedy or Inconvenience?

It’s a question I have learned to gently ask myself in moments of stress or frustration during my own healing journey.

That gentle inquiry feels especially tender on this Mother’s Day.

Yesterday, many experienced the road closure, sirens, and long delays in front of Lumen Creek Studios following a tragic accident.

What may have felt like a frustrating delay for some was, for another family, an unimaginable loss.

It’s a reminder to slow down and extend a little more grace to the community around us.

Today may feel joyful, complicated, healing, quiet, or heavy. In any case, we hope you find a moment to breathe deeply and care gently for yourself and the people you love.

The cabin will be open today from 1–5 pm for anyone wanting a peaceful place to pause, browse, create, or simply sit by the creek for a little while.

With excitement and pride, PreCussion for Kids announces our next Student Showcase event: Friday, July 10th & Saturday, July 11th. For the first time, we need TWO dates to accommodate our incredible students and their many fans!
