On Saturday, Tyler Art Gallery hosted the annual Oswego Buccaneers Arts Festival, which showcases the incredible artwork of K-12 students from our community. The art on view was bright, colorful, and full of incredible technique.
Congratulations to each and every student who had their work on display!

For SUNY Oswego Director of Communications Tim Nekritz, summer brings an exciting creative milestone: the release of his first album, “The Past Behind Me”.
Recorded and produced on campus in Tyler Hall by Audio Recording and Production Major Maria Barbato, the 10-track album explores how our histories shape our present and future.
Tim will be touring throughout the summer, with performances in Oswego and beyond!

For ARTSwego Director Lowell Hutcheson, inspiration is all around. Her practice is shaped by the Lake Ontario's erosion patterns, sediment layers, and shifting shorelines. No two pieces are alike — each one carries the quiet variation found in nature.
As part of The Ceramic School's Clay Camp 2026, she'll be leading a virtual workshop that teaches you how to draw inspiration from nature to create intricate, organic textured surfaces that embrace imperfection and variation. Join Lowell on Sunday, May 31st at 9AM. Registration info can be found through the link below.

Anybody else still thinking about all the looks from this year's Met Gala?
We couldn't help but draw some parallels between the outfits and our beloved CMA programs.
The second BFA Exhibition is now on view in Tyler Art Gallery through May 15th!
This exhibition showcases the work of graduating students as they transition from student artists to emerging professionals. It’s more than just an exhibit; it’s a culmination of years of dedication, experimentation, and growth. Each artist presents a cohesive body of work that reflects their unique voice, perspective, and creative journey.
Swing by the gallery on Friday, May 8th from 5-7PM for the Opening Reception, or stop in before it closes! The gallery is free and open to all.
Did you know that there are currently TWO graduate student exhibitions on view in the Corner Art Gallery in Tyler Hall?
Art and Storytelling, created by Haley Clear, and Eikonoklastes: Influence, Perception, and the Responsibility of Image, created by Ash Little, are both unique, visually stunning multimedia exhibitions that show off the hard work both students have undertaken during their graduate studies.
Stop by and spend some time with both exhibitions before they close on May 15th! There will also be an opening reception for both exhibitions on Friday, May 8th from 5 to 7PM.
The Corner Art Gallery is located on the second floor of Tyler Hall, and the exhibitions are free and open to all.
Have you noticed the red dresses hanging from the trees outside of Tyler Hall?
This installation, created by Costume and Design students and the Native American Studies Department, calls attention to the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people in Canada and the United States.
May 5th is Red Dress Day, a national day of awareness, remembrance, and advocacy to bring about systemic change and end violence against Indigenous women. Be sure to stop by the installation and take a few moments to pause, reflect, and stand in solidarity with the communities seeking justice.
