This past week, Dr. McKinney sat down with 8th grader Avery Schmidt to discuss her first published book, The New House. Avery has had a passion for writing since a very young age, and in this interview, she shares her creative process and how she overcame challenges to bring her story to life. We are incredibly proud of Avery and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes as an author. If you’d like to support her, you can find a copy of her book on Amazon. We’re excited to share that the NJHS bench project at Thompson is officially complete! 🎉

Throughout the school year, our NJHS students worked incredibly hard fundraising for a new bench to be placed in front of the school. From additional fundraisers to working concessions at sports events, plays, and musicals, this project truly became a team effort.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this possible...our community, staff and HSO!

We’d also like to give special recognition to local small business LZeeDoodle Designs for designing and donating the beautiful plaque for the bench. You can also find LZeeDoodle at Hudson Design House in Downtown Oswego.

We are so proud of our NJHS students for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to leaving a lasting impact on our school community!
