Today, the LRC celebrated their amazing Library Crew for all of their hard work this year in the Library. Students were treated to cake, book tattoos, book raffles, and created summer bookmarks. 8th graders received special bookmarks that list the very first book checked out at Traughber, along with the very last book checked out here ... interesting to see their growth/interest changes over the years.

Just a reminder, all library books are due! We still have 412 missing books. Please encourage your child to check in their closet, under their bed, under the car seat, etc for their books. All students received an email for any missing books. Thank you for helping to make sure those books get returned to keep our LRC well-stocked for students!

Some of Mrs. Ryan's students were able to join a Google Meet for a greet and meet with Chris Slavin, creator of Classroom Cereal, a fun grammar and reading resource. Before starting Classroom Cereal, he wrote content for a few other awesome websites, like Membean, Newsela, and NoRedInk. He joined us all the way from New York to share his joys for reading and writing!

Mrs. Schwertley’s Honors English I students are reading ROMEO AND JULIET, and they recreated their wedding. They had full creative freedom, and what they came up with was impressive and hilarious. Highlights included the speech by Benvolio (“this is the list of women Romeo was infatuated with before Juliet”) and the vows by Romeo (“It feels like just yesterday when I met you. Because you know…it was.”) They had such amazing details from the music, to the menu (including “A Rose by any other Name” tarts) to the dance routine at the end. There was even a wedding crasher (gasp….Rosaline!) So much fun!

Some of Mrs. Ryan’s students had the opportunity to expand their community connections by engaging with members of the Oswego Police Department, the Oswego Fire Department, and other Kendall County public officials. The visit included a special surprise as students were greeted by three four-legged friends—Zelda, Snow, and Pumper, the OFD mascot—adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.
To show their appreciation, students had the pleasure of thanking these community heroes for their service by serving coffee and tea from the student-run coffee shop. It was a meaningful exchange that highlighted both gratitude and community partnership.
