What an incredible morning for Mike and Miriam! ❤️🎶

They were invited to Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series in Central Park to see Sublime and be part of a special Norwegian Cruise Line promotion, where they got to talk about why they love teaching music. 🎸

When asked what she loves about teaching, Miriam said, “I love making more music makers. Music creates connection, teaches teamwork and builds confidence.”

Then came a surprise they weren’t expecting! Norwegian Cruise Line had heard their music-making story and surprised them with a trip on Sublime’s Reef Madness Cruise — a Caribbean cruise featuring Sublime and special guests! 🛳️🎶

What makes the surprise so meaningful is being recognized for the work they love doing in music — and since they both love rock music, getting to experience the Reef Madness Cruise makes it even more special. 🤘❤️

A huge thank you to Gabi Marinelli, Nicole Wilkins, Lara Spencer, Norwegian Cruise Line, and the entire team at ABC and Good Morning America for making this such an unforgettable experience.

We loved The Lost Boys on Broadway so much that we had to go back a second time! 🎶🧛‍♂️

As musicians and music educators, one of the things we love most about this show is the MUSIC. The orchestrations are incredible, the vocals are phenomenal, and the music drives the energy of the entire production.

And these voices!! 🔥 Shoshana Bean, Maria Wirries, LJ Benét, Ali Louis Bourzgui and company are just extraordinary.

If you love great singing, great musicianship and a score that really rocks, highly recommend The Lost Boys! 🎸🎭

🎉 Congratulations to our own Miriam Risko! 🎶🎓

We are incredibly proud to celebrate an extraordinary year of learning and professional development for Miriam!

After a year of dedicated study, Miriam has earned her Professional Certificate in Vocal Skills from Berklee College of Music.

She has also earned a Certificate in Musical Theatre Repertoire from the CCM Institute at Shenandoah University and a Certificate in Musical Theatre from Interlochen Center for the Arts — three meaningful accomplishments that reflect her deep commitment to continuing to grow as both a singer and an educator.

As a professional singer, voice teacher, coach, and co-owner of Mike Risko Music, Miriam specializes in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM), with a particular focus on rock, pop, musical theatre, amplified singing, and healthy, sustainable vocal technique.

At Mike Risko Music, we believe great teachers never stop being students themselves. Miriam brings what she learns directly back to our school — into her own singing and teaching, into her work mentoring and training our staff, and ultimately into the experience we provide for every student who walks through our doors.

We couldn’t be prouder of the tremendous amount of work, study, and heart that went into these accomplishments.

Awww…We are going to miss Caroline around here! ❤️

Caroline has been part of Mike Risko Music since she was a little kid, first as a student and eventually as one of our teachers. She’s been going to school locally while working with us, and this fall she’ll be going away to school.

We love having Caroline and her family as part of the Mike Risko Music family all these years.

She will be so missed by her students and all of us on staff, but we’ve already told her she is always welcome back anytime she’s home!
We caught this sweet moment with Caroline and her friend and fellow staff member MJ before she goes. ❤️

Have an amazing time at school, Caroline! We’ll miss you around here and can’t wait to see you when you’re home! 🎶
