” I want to get a big snake just like that, when I grow up”
Since we had the biggest animal there, many kids were excited to meet Abby the red-tailed boa. The point is that it was great to see kids happy to meet a new specie without being scared, and wanting to learn about it, and how it's not harmful to society, because most times people think that certain species are very bad and dangerous, which can be true but we can coexist with the species and that's what the kids got to learn. 1777093022.838537.jpg (1290×1715)

Many of them said it was our snake, Abby the red-tailed boa! Our group had many excited students ready to pet the snake and ask questions about it. Some of them found it funny that it was our first time meeting Abby as well....

“How does this thing poop”
Holding a red-tailed boa was something that I thought would be very scary, but it really wasn't that bad(Especially holding it for over an hour)! The kids were very interested and a little nervous because the snake was so big, which made it fun to teach them about the snake. This all showed the kids that animals are not as scary once you get to learn about them. It also made me realize how important it is for everyone to learn about animals instead of being afraid of them.

“South America!!!!”
My partner and I were teaching the Lordes students about Big Dude the Red-Footed Tortoise. My job was to inform the students about what they ate and where they live. I asked them where they lived, and a female student yelled, "South America" with excitement getting the answer on her first guess. The other students were really happy to be able to learn and pet Big Dude during our show and tell event.

“Does it bite?”
Today UW-Oshkosh students got a chance to go to a local elementary school and teach the kids about a bunch of different animals. In the group with Donut a female ball python, the kids got to pet the snake, learn about the snakes diet, environmental impact they have, fun facts, and more. It was overall a really fun experience and the kids had an absolute blast getting to pet and learn all the interesting facts about each of the animals.

“You should name him crispy”
Today we went back to Lourdes to see the kids and show them our animal. At our station we had Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Going into today, I didn't think that the kids would find them cool, or be interested, but I was proven wrong. There was only one group that didn't want to hold them. Almost all of the kids were very intrigued and wanted to hold the cockroaches and hear them hiss....
