Volume up! Beginning of video Lila clacks loudly (a warning vocalization sounds like a clap). Rightfully so, she’s intolerant and moody. She laid an egg yesterday. Will check tomorrow to see if there’s more than one.

Yesterday I could hear a distress call. Kept looking up with no luck sighting a bird. Dropped food for the birds in the barn and came out to the same distress call. Found this little wobbly
sandhill crane c**t in distress. Waited and watched in hopes the adults were nearby. Very unusual for sandhill cranes to leaves their young. With the advice of Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary I brought the c**t in for the evening. Waiting for transporting the little guy up this morning. Still no sign of the adults this morning.

This little baby tugged at my heart strings this morning. My brother stumbled across two of its siblings succumbed to a predator this morning. When I reached in the nest I felt a warm little body. Reached out to fellow mammal rehabbers Greenberg and Nutfield Wildlife Rehab for advice. Bunnies are tricky in captivity best chance at survival is with the adult female. Placed the baby back in the nest with the nesting material packed around it and covered with a wood pellet . If still warm after work the baby will be left for the female to attend. If not holding body temperature will go to local licensed rehabber in the area tonight.
