We had a great time at Take Back the Night last Wednesday. We are so lucky to have such a passionate and caring community who is unapologetically loud about disability rights and taking back the night!

I hope you're all doing well. Join us tomorrow, 6:30-7:30, in the UWO Women's Center or join virtually using this link (https://bit.ly/wacfall2022). At our last meeting, we talked about some goals we had for the semester and topic ideas we would like to discuss. For this week, we will be having a discussion on boundary setting and healthy relationships.

We also will be having a WAC Believes You discussion which is a peer-led group to support victims/survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence and their allies. The focus will be on education, growth, healing, and connection with others. This is NOT a clinical/counseling support group. If you are looking to build community and further your healing, we would love to have you join us!

Promoting all the good stuff at Taste of UW Oshkosh

How would you like to see the Women’s Center use plain-language across campus to help educate people on transphobia, homophobia, stolen land, and more?

[image description - three part twitter thread by , tweet 1/3: "I’ve said this before, but the left really needs to get on the plain-language train for a number of reasons. You shouldn’t need an extensive background in sociology, gender studies or philosophy to understand the idea that people should be treated fairly."

Tweet 2/3: "Most people aren’t going to know what the ‘settler-colonial imperialist cisheteropatriarchy’ is, even though they’ll definitely understand the idea of stolen land, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia."

Tweet 3/3: "Let’s not leave simple language to the right. How can we talk about treating workers fairly without lecturing them about material conditions or the labour theory of value?"]
