VelCRO: Vel Phillips Community Resource Organization

Thank you community!!!!!! When barely any of our 820+ students are eligible for district busing, safe walking and biking routes to school are vital!

There’s a great new addition to the City’s North side that will help students get to Oshkosh North High School, Vel Phillips Middle School - Oshkosh and Read Elementary School more safely. There is now a button activated pedestrian crossing light at the intersection of Elmwood and Murdock. Thank you to the City of Oshkosh - City Services & Updates, Oshkosh Police Department, Oshkosh Area School District and whoever else made this happen!

Too many students have been hit by vehicles going to and from school. We all need to work together to stop that from happening. As I’ve said before, we all want to get home safely every day!

Youth 13 and older, try something new this summer with the Fox Valley Dragon Boat Club Youth Team!

🏆 Our Fox Valley Dragon Boat Club Youth Program kicks off for the summer today!

We’re excited to welcome young paddlers to the fastest-growing water sport in the United States. Dragon boating is more than just a sport—it’s an opportunity to build confidence, leadership skills, teamwork, and lifelong friendships while enjoying the outdoors and staying active.

Benefits of participating include:
✅ Building confidence and self-esteem
✅ Developing teamwork and communication skills
✅ Improving fitness, strength, and endurance
✅ Learning leadership and responsibility
✅ Connecting with nature and reducing screen time
✅ Making new friends in a fun, supportive environment

Practices are held at 3:50 PM on Sundays at The Landings on the Wolf.

One of the things that The Teachers’ Closet does, is grant special requests. Sometimes teachers are looking for things we don’t stock or happen to have at TTC. Teachers can request those items by completing a Special Request form. A committee reviews the requests, determines if it fits their criteria, and then acquires the item or items. TTC has a Special Request fund which is used for this purpose. One of our recent granted requests was buying the foam material for the music department at Vel Phillips Middle School. Pictured are some of the finished puppets. Other examples of requests granted were sound blocking headphones for autistic kids, electric pencil sharpeners, special calculators, and more. Please consider a donation to our Special Request fund.

Have you already taken our Basic Sign Language Level 1 class and are interested in learning more? Check out our Level 2 class this summer! Students will add more vocabulary and concepts to already existing sign language skills. This class is for ages 10+.
