Hear some fantastic new music Sunday afternoon at the Wisconsin New Music Festival hosted by the UW Oshkosh Music Department! The 3:00 PM concert features fantastic music by winners from the state-wide WAC Student Composition Contest. The 4:30 PM concert includes a wide variety of works by WAC-members from around WI. Music will be performed by our outstanding UWO faculty and student musicians along with several guest artists. The festival is FREE and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to spring 2023 UWO graduates Mack Booth (BM Composition) and Joe Sandy (BM Composition)! Both have made incredible contributions to the composition program and the Music Department. Mack has earned an assistantship to pursue a graduate degree at Western Michigan University and Joe was awarded an assistantship to continue his studies at Illinois State University. Best of luck to both of you. We can’t wait to hear about your next steps. Go Titan composers!

This semester’s collaboration between the UWO Composition Studio and Dr. Kirstin Ihde’s piano class culminated with a wonderful recital this morning. Composition students wrote a set of creative outer space-themed pedagogical works that focused on particular skills. “Moon Ooze,” anyone? Great to collaborate piano class!

We had a strong showing from UW Oshkosh Music Department students at today’s Celebration of Scholarship and Creative Activity including excellent presentations by composition majors Mack Booth, Joe Sandy, and Josh Sheldon. Even better, Mack and Joe took home two of the top awards for their fantastic work.

Congrats to Mack Booth on a fantastic Senior Composition Recital Friday evening. Great music and fantastic performances from UWO students and faculty. Great job Mack!

It's been a busy weekend for UWO composers! On Friday, Mack Booth's musical "The Masque of the Red Death" received a fantastic premiere by the UWO Opera Theatre and Sounds Like Now. On Sunday, works by Mack Booth, Joe Sandy, and Micah Gehring were performed at the Wisconsin Alliance for Composers New Music Festival at UW Whitewater. Go Titan composers!

Another successful UW Oshkosh Composition Studio Recital is in the books. We heard a wide variety of original student compositions and wonderful performances from UWO students and faculty. Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to Joe Sandy on his senior composition recital. We heard a wide range of music including a jazz combo, an art song, an early music ensemble, a piece for melodica, and more. Bravo Joe!
