Remember:
❤️Pronouns are IMPORTANT! If appropriate, please state yours and ask for others (or how they’d like to be referred to).
🧡Practice doesn’t make perfect but it makes a difference!
💛Use gender inclusive language when appropriate (I.e. - addressing groups of people use terms like friends, folks, neighbors, y’all, etc.)
💚Use descriptive language if you do not know someone’s name or pronouns (I.e. - “Can you give this to the person in the yellow sunflower sweatshirt please?”
💙Make your support visible! Address yourself using pronouns, include pronouns on any signatures (texts, email, etc.), and pull people in and address them positively and correctively if misgendering.
💜Mistakes happen, correct yourself and move on without making it about you!
🖤They can be used singularly and collectively! If you’re unsure and it is a safe environment, using they/them/theirs can be suffice, unless asked otherwise!
🤎Education is key! Never stop striving to be a better ally!
🏳️⚧️Be respectful, don’t make assumptions, and take the time to learn and communicate.
