💚

She calls it an outdoor classroom — and for 40+ years, she’s been its teacher, keeper, and biggest champion. Congratulations to Anita Carpenter ’83 (Biology), our 2026 Outstanding Service recipient!

For more than four decades, Anita has transformed UWO’s campus into a living, learning ecosystem. She co-led biology spring break field trips for 32 years, served as the university’s “Volunteer Prairie Keeper” for over a decade, and has contributed thousands of volunteer hours maintaining the prairies, gardens, and natural areas that make our campus so special — even keeping it going through the pandemic when staffing was limited.

Congratulations, Anita. Forty years of caring for this campus is a gift we don’t take for granted. Thank you.
