On Friday, we excitedly welcomed our new teachers and certified staff as they officially began their journey with Oscoda Area Schools during New Teacher Training!

Throughout the day, this outstanding group learned more about our district while digging into the important tools, expectations, curriculum, technology, and resources that will support them as they begin the school year. We could not have asked for a more enthusiastic, engaged, and top-notch group of educators!

We are proud to welcome these talented professionals to our team and are excited about the knowledge, passion, and fresh perspectives they will bring to our students, schools, and community.

The U.S. News and World Report 2026-2027 rankings came out today for Middle and High Schools, so Mrs. Brooks looked up our schools.

Every year the U.S. News and World Report ranks schools in the state. Testing data is the biggest factor when it comes to rankings (annually OAS gets points deducted because we believe Dual Enrollment is more advantageous for our students than Advanced Placement Courses for kids to earn college credits.

This year the Oscoda Middle School received the recognition of being ranked as a “Best Middle School in the U.S!” In Michigan, our middle school (7th/8th grade) ranked 233 out of 2,041 schools, which is in the top 9% of middle schools in the state. This ranking is based on the data from last year, which is our current 8th and 9th graders. Last year we were 233 out of 1,979 schools, top 11% of middle schools. Two years ago we were also in the top 11%.

This would be 3 years in a row of earning a banner for the middle school. Nice job!

Our high school was in the top 28% of high schools in the state finishing 356 out of 1,259 schools. Last year we were 408 out of 1,135 (top 36%). We have increased our rank each of the last 3 years!

We are stressing to our students this year the thought of soaring higher this year. We are hoping that students are doing just that so that we can put up another banner next year.
