Paddle has left the country!!!

On August 15th, Paddle was found in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 near Kincardine and Port Elgin (not sure I spelled this correct). June Elliott and her family took good care of Paddle then sent it on its way by releasing it back into Lake Huron by boat. The letter she sent is very kind❤️ such an amazing journey! Thank you!

Paddle Update: 7/27/2021

It absolutely fills me with happy tears when I receive letters like the one I was sent today❤️❤️

Please take time to read this letter! Our friends have read “Paddle to the Sea,” and just like in the story, Paddle went for a boat ride to help move further along in Lake Huron with “Captain Dan” https://m.facebook.com/bluebirdfishing/ !! Attached are the letter, beach where Paddle was found, and Paddle with our friends as they were sending him for his ride!

Paddle was placed into Lake Huron on June 18, 2021. As of now, this was the last sighting. Still hoping Paddle makes it to Canada! 🛶

I received a card today from a couple that vacationed in Huron City (Henry and Diane from Wisconsin). They found Paddle on June 17th. Paddle made its way back to Port Austin. The couple sent Paddle back out far in the water with a fisherman(thank you!!) so we are still hopeful Paddle will reach Canada!

On a side note, we are keeping the Port Austin community in our thoughts as they recover from horrendous weather this last weekend. Stay strong!

How awesome is this!

Today we received a card stating that Paddle was found in Port Crescent State Park on April 30th and was placed back in the water in Port Austin. That makes THREE letters from friends finding Paddle just in the Port Austin area!

As I stated in my last post, Paddle was placed in the water near Port Hope on May 15th, and hopefully is traveling south into Lake Huron!

The campers that sent today’s card also sent a couple post cards to be updated with Paddle’s future journeys💙

This morning my class received another letter and several pictures from Matthew English and friends. They found Paddle still near the Point aux Barques Lighthouse, a few miles north of Port Hope, on May 15th.

It is an entirely over joyous feeling to see so many people take the time to respond to our project and even include pictures. The humanity and compassion so many of you have shown for our little Paddle project is phenomenal. Thank you!!

We received a letter today from Paddle telling us all about the adventures he was having with Ms. McBride and Ms. Ross on May 11, 2021!!! Paddle was still in Port Austin!

We also received several neat pictures and an idea for students to research to learn more about the Thumb region!

Also, the letter stated that Paddle was driven to the other side of the thumb to assist him in getting around the tip and on his way for a new adventure! A map was even sent to help us see!

Thank you so much for the engaging letter to help my students visualize and think about the journey Paddle has been on💙
