Mitchell County Trap Range BACKGROUND

The Mitchell County Trap Range opened in 2006 and has been growing rapidly ever since. Our facility currently has four trap houses.

In the spring area high school trap teams from Osage, St Ansgar, Riceville, and Central Springs, practice and host meets at the range. Safety is the highest priority; student and youth shooters are taught correct form and procedures and are held to zero tolerance standards. The number of students competing at the high school level continues to grow exponentially every year. At invitational meets t

he range is near full capacity with as many as 200 shooters coming to compete. GENERAL INFORMATON

The Mitchell County Trap Range is run 100% by volunteer help with all money generated going back into updating and improving the range. Open to the public the first Sunday in July through the end of September from 1-4. Only bird shot may be used. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted at the range. The cost to shoot per round of 25 is $5. Ten round punch cards are available and cost $50.00. Local youth groups are always welcome to set up a date and time to come out and shoot.

As we posted earlier about thinking about busting clays. A couple of our volunteers are busy planning a wedding. A first this year; a wedding is taking place at the range and we couldn't be more excited! It truly is a shotgun wedding!
