Our farm raises approximately 5 acres of vegetables, which are sold at 2 farmers’ markets, our farm store in Mitchell, a subscription service, and to wholesale partners like grocery stores, restaurants, and schools.

Friday was full of knowledge and experience. Thank you Mercy One in Mason City, Cutting Edge Fitness in Clear Lake and NIACC for taking the time for our class.

We had students job shadow in Radiology, Sonography, Pediatrics, Speech, HR and Facilities at Mercy after our tour.

Cutting Edge Fitness staff shared their backgrounds leading to their love for personal training and wellness with Keely and Mrs. Kofoot.

NIACC instructors shared the Nursing program and Physical Therapy Assistant program information. The hands on learning offered in these programs is beyond amazing and fun!

Added shout out to Shop on State for the scrubs so our students could look professional in their job shadows.

Jessica Smith (Office Coordinator) and Nick Clark (Business Manager) joined our class to talk about Helena Agri-Enterprises, LCC. There are so many job opportunities within their business. This company takes care of its employees in Osage and at other locations. The work team sounds inviting with room to grow as an individual and employee.

Nathan McRoberts talked about his career path that led him to be an insurance agent at Farm Bureau Insurance. He had a student request a job shadow and gave the student great insight on his agency.

Laurie Temple visited the class to talk about her college experience at the University of Iowa. She discussed her first degree in Social Work which led her to continue her education at Loyola Law School with her passion to really help others. She is currently an Estate Planning Attorney in Hawaii.

Stefanie Sersland joined us over Zoom to talk about her role as a realtor. She has retired from Caldwell Banker but is still passionate about educating future realtors. She is an Instructor with the Iowa Association of Realtors. Stafanie has joined us for the second year and her love for her job and educating others shows!

Laura Klaes joined our class as part of an observation as a board member at Osage Community School District. I took the opportunity to have her talk about her educational and career path with students.

Thank you to every person who has given their time to talk to my students. I am always looking for individuals to join my class, share their journey in education and employment and take the time to answer questions.
