Today was a great day at the Missouri State Fair—and even our FFA advisors got in on the action!

A few highlights from the day:

💙Kellyn Hinshaw exhibited a Spot boar and a Berkshire Gilt in the 4-H Swine Show.

💛McKenna Jones showed her Spot boar and gilts in the FFA division.

💙New FFA member Kali Parrish showed her Spot gilts and earned two 2nd-place finishes in her classes!

💛Andi, TJ, Cooper, and Brody Belt exhibited in the Open Sheep Show and even jumped in to help others with their animals.

💙💛 Mr. Eckler and Mrs. Bradley made appearances in the show ring today, too!

There is always plenty to celebrate at the Missouri State Fair, but one of the best parts is watching our members get involved, work hard, help others, and represent North Shelby FFA so well.

We’re proud of all of them and excited for more State Fair fun to come! 💙💛

Congratulations to FFA member Cooper Belt for his success in the 4H division at the Missouri State Fair!

🌽 SAE Spotlight – Hazel & Scarlett Yoder 🌽

One of my favorite SAE visits each summer is stopping by to see Hazel and Scarlett Yoder during Sweet Corn Week!

The sisters grow nearly an acre of sweet corn, hand-harvesting each ear to provide their customers with a true farm-to-fork experience. This year they’re growing the variety Incredible, and their hard work is evident in every harvest.

During my visit, we discussed some of the unique challenges of growing non-GMO sweet corn, including pest management and production practices. Since their patch is surrounded by field corn, it’s also a great opportunity to compare different production methods and discuss why management decisions matter.

One of the highlights of the visit was watching Hazel and Scarlett interact with customers as they stopped by to purchase their yearly supply of sweet corn. It’s a great reminder that a successful SAE isn’t just about production—it’s also about building relationships, providing excellent customer service, and developing strong business skills.

We’re proud of the work Hazel and Scarlett continue to put into their SAE, and I look forward to seeing their sweet corn operation grow year after year. Great job, Yoder ladies!
