this . . .

We spend so much time preparing children for tomorrow that we forget today is their childhood.

One day, these painted feet will be bigger.

The paint will wash off.
The artwork may not be kept.
The memories will soften around the edges.

But this ordinary afternoon—the one that didn’t feel important enough to photograph until you did—is childhood.

Not every moment needs to teach a new skill.
Not every day needs to be productive.
Not every activity needs an outcome.

Some days are simply meant to be lived.

Because while we’re busy preparing children for the future, they’re quietly collecting the moments that become their childhood.

So let the paint end up on their feet.
Say yes to the extra five minutes.
Leave room for wonder, laughter, and a little mess.

Tomorrow will come.

But they’ll only live today once.

We were definitely Going FOOTLOOSE at the Zoo at our 24th Graduation Celebration held a few weeks ago . . .
