Congratulations to Bryan Millus on passing the HiSET at Oroville Adult Education Center! Bryan did a great job preparing for the math portion of the test. We were impressed by his dedication. He set a goal and achieved it.

Exciting Student Update!

⭐Name: Gregory Noel

⭐Credentials Earned at Oroville Adult:
HiSET Certificate (2025)

⭐Goal Achieved:
Gregory completed a 10-month heavy equipment operator certificate program at Shasta College. (Agriculture Equipment Operations and Maintenance) He was top of his class and made the dean’s list! Gregory is currently working on his contractor’s license and will be starting his own forestry company in August, N&S Forestry LLC.

⭐Background: Gregory, a husband and father of four, spent two and a half months and up to four hours a day working on math assignments at Oroville Adult in order to pass the math HiSET exam.

Once he passed the HiSET, he commuted five days a week from Berry Creek to Redding (a 5-hour roundtrip) to attend the heavy equipment program at Shasta College. Wow!

⭐Advice:
All the knowledge and resources you need to pursue a career are out there. You just need to stay motivated, work hard, and keep pushing toward your goals.

From HiSET Graduate to College Graduate: Bridgette’s Inspiring Journey

When Bridgette Graham enrolled at Oroville Adult Education, she had no idea how far her educational journey would take her.

Bridgette, now 28 and a mother of three, grew up in a challenging environment. After a tumultuous childhood that included frequent moves and time spent in juvenile hall, she found herself missing many of the credits needed to earn a traditional high school diploma.

Unsure if college or a professional career would ever be within reach, she decided to take a different path and earned her HiSET through Oroville Adult Education in 2018.

While participating in the welfare-to-work program, Bridgette also completed Oroville Adult Education’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, taking another important step toward building a better future for herself and her family.

Eventually, she headed for college. This past May, her years of hard work paid off when she graduated from California State University, Chico with a degree in social work.

Today, Bridgette works as an Assistant Social Worker with Children’s Services in Oroville and has recently applied for a position as a Medical Social Worker at a local hospital. Medical social workers help patients and families connect with important resources and services during times of illness and crisis.

Looking back, Bridgette says she never thought these accomplishments would be possible. Her advice to anyone who dreams of a better future?

“Take that leap! Just do it!”

We are incredibly proud of Bridgette and all she has accomplished. Her story is a powerful reminder that no matter where you start, determination, education, and perseverance can open doors you never thought possible.
