It's hard to believe... it's the LAST week of school!! So much going on this week!
"Endings" are always bittersweet - we all love some vacation time, but we as your Ishi staff will truly miss our daily interactions with our students. Our 8th graders are moving on to high school - they are ready! We are very proud of them! They will be missed! 6th & 7th graders - we can't wait to see you back at school on Monday, August 10th!
Please partner with us in reminding students that while this last week is full of exciting events, we still expect students to follow our school-wide expectations. Thank you!

🌉🔬✨ WOW! What an unforgettable adventure for the 6th graders at Ishi Hills Middle School on Thursday! ✨
🔬🌉From an early 7:00 AM departure to returning home at 8:30 PM, our students had a FULL day packed with incredible learning opportunities, unforgettable memories, and hands-on exploration at the world-famous Exploratorium in San Francisco!
The Exploratorium is an internationally recognized museum of science, art, and human perception featuring over 700 interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking through hands-on learning. Students explored exciting exhibits focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) while making real-world connections to concepts they’ve been learning in the classroom.
Along the way, students enjoyed:
🌁 Views of the Golden Gate Bridge through the fog
🏝️ A clear look at Alcatraz and the San Francisco Bay
🍴 Lunch by the waterfront
🧠 Hundreds of engaging hands-on exhibits and activities
🚌 A chance to experience everything from rice fields to towering skyscrapers
For many of our students, this was their very first trip to San Francisco — and they absolutely LOVED it!
Here are just a few highlights from our students:
⭐ “The coolest thing I did was witness a cow eye dissection!”
⭐ “The coolest thing I saw was an Ivan Circle.”
⭐ “The coolest thing I saw was a live starfish.”
⭐ “The coolest thing I did was play a team snake game because it required teamwork to win.”
⭐ “The coolest thing I saw was the tornado because when you waited, it created a giant tornado that kept growing taller until it reached the top!”
⭐ “Overall, I would give the Exploratorium trip a 5/5-star review because it was a once-in-a-lifetime field trip!”
These experiences not only helped students connect classroom learning to the real world, but also gave many the opportunity to see and experience things they had never encountered before.
A HUGE thank you to our district for supporting this amazing field trip, our administration, teachers, staff, and incredible parent chaperones who helped make the day possible. We truly could not have done it without you!
💙 Our students had an absolute blast, and the memories made will last a lifetime! 💙
