UMaine International Alumni

UMaine International Alumni UMaine International Student Alumni As international students at UMaine we loved our years at our alma mater.

It never mattered if we were here for a semester or a few years, if we were undergraduate, graduate or exchange students. We had fun at our weekly Friday coffee hours, at the Oronokas, Culture-fests and International Dance-fests. We were eager to meet people, make friends and share our stories and cultures. As alumni, we want to reconnect with friends and stay updated with news from UMaine. The pu

rpose of the International Student Alumni Interest Group is to create a network of international alumni to seek social and professional opportunities, and to create an annual reunion event as well as alumni events in different locations around the world.

It's not too late to give!
Today is the day to give back to the College of your Hearts Always!
Anyone who wishes to support our students is welcome to make a donation.
Today is Maine Day of Giving. Please consider a donation (any amount helps) to help fund new orientation programs for our new international students. View a short video at the link below.

The Office of International Programs is re-imagining international student orientation by integrating it into Black Bear Bridge Week, UMaine’s new week-long orientation experience for all incoming students, designed to help students start strong, build community, and feel at home from day one. Rather than a separate standalone program, international students will now participate in a shared campus-wide experience that helps them build relationships with residence hall neighbors, connect with classmates across cultures, become familiar with UMaine, and gain confidence navigating both academic and social life. At the same time, they will receive dedicated support on U.S. academic expectations, financial literacy, cultural adjustment, and essential campus resources. With a participation cost of $450 per student, donor support is critical to ensuring every international student can fully access and afford this important first-week experience. Maine Day of Giving is April 29, 2026, alumni and friends can support this effort by making a gift using the link below. With your donation, you can help new students feel welcomed, prepared, and connected from their very first days on campus, setting the foundation for their success and sense of belonging.
Thank you!

Today is Maine Day of Giving! As a UMaine alumna and employee, I supported two very special funds - the OIP Fund which will help new international students cover the cost of fall orientation and feel welcomed at UMaine. And the Global Perspectives for Humanities Exploration scholarship which raises funds to provide study abroad scholarships. Join me in supporting UMaine students! ~Orlina Boteva
