Today marks the 92nd anniversary of the University of Maine Foundation. With their initial $1,000 gift and foresight in 1934, our founders have made a tremendous difference for thousands of Black Bears. That investment, along with all the other gifts to our endowment over the years, has brought our total endowment to a record high of over $500 million! The University of Maine Foundation recently celebrated philanthropy, leadership, and community impact during the 2026 Stillwater Society Dinner and Awards event.

The Stillwater Society recognizes individuals whose lifetime giving to the University of Maine has reached $25,000 or more. This year’s event honored donors whose generosity continues to support scholarships, research, academic programs, and opportunities for students across the UMaine community.

We are grateful for the continued support and dedication of our donors and alumni.

Yesterday, UMaine Seniors who contributed to the Senior Class Giving Campaign came together for a celebration of their philanthropy at the annual True Blue Toast. Foundation President/CEO Jeff Mills '82 and Alumni Association President/CEO Tom Peaco '88 introduced them to Buchanan Alumni House, and expressed the university's appreciation for their gifts as budding philanthropists.
