Pi Beta Phi ME Alpha

Pi Beta Phi ME Alpha This is the official page for the Pi Beta Phi Maine Alpha chapter at the University of Maine.

The Maine Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi was founded at the University of Maine on May 24, 1920. Our organization is built off of six core values: Integrity, Lifelong Commitment, Honor and Respect, Personal and Intellectual Growth, Philanthropic Service to Others, and Sincere Friendship. All of our members live out these values each and every day through our multiple philanthropies that we hold each

semester, supporting our fellow Greeks at their events and get-togethers, and sister bonding activities. The organization of Pi Beta Phi as a whole was founded on April 28th, 1867 by a group of 12 independent college women at Monmouth College in Illinois. We were the first organization to be founded as a national fraternity, before the word "sorority" even existed.

: Leah Cromarty our Chapter President - PC’ Fall 23🤍🪽 Leah not only does amazing things for Maine Alpha, but she is also the founder of Umaine’s Pre-PA Club, read below to learn more !!

“I founded the UMaine Pre-PA Club after recognizing a need for a community where pre-PA students could connect and support one another. I began the process about a year ago, and after a lot of planning, we officially launched with a full executive board. We’ve already welcomed guest speakers, and I’m excited to continue growing the club while helping students prepare for their journey to PA school!“🙌✨

Summer Spotlight: Earlier this summer two of our sisters bella and Gianna Smith travelled to Lisbon, Portugal with the Umaine Political Science Program for 3 weeks to learn about comparative drug policy. 🇵🇹

“It was such an immersive experience where we visited places like the Constitutional Court of Portugal, safe injection sites, and even their version of the FBI (Policía Judiciaria)! Not only was it educational, it was such a bonding experience, Bella and I got so much closer not only as friends but as sisters too! Forever grateful!” 🤍🪽

“I joined Pi Phi after transferring to UMaine as a sophomore because I wanted to make connections and get involved on campus. I honestly never thought I was a sorority person, but after going through recruitment, I really wanted to be a part of what Pi phi represented. Everyone was so genuine and fun to be around. Something that really stood out to me was how many girls were STEM majors which was so cool as someone in kinesiology! I loved that everyone is super motivated and takes school seriously but also knows how to have fun and make the most of college. Joining Pi Phi has been such a great way to meet amazing people and make UMaine feel a lot more like home.“🪽🙌
